HellaSupertone install
OK, I got the two horns...but, where the hell is the horn located in the engine bay of the gd3?.. I mounted them already behind the upper grille... I want to eliminate the oem one but use the same wires to eliminate a relay...:)
|
Dont quote me here Vinny, but i belive it will be behind the bumper. Probably above one of the foglights. Typical Honda.
|
Passenger's side behind the washer ressivor, gotta take off the tire and pull the liner down and there it is :D.

Don't know if anyone has tried this before....so I did it.:D
OK, finally got my 5, yes I said four hella horns and the oem horn hook'd. I ran them all continuously from the single positive wire that connects to the oem horn. Bypassed the relay and separate fuse altogether. Horns operate from the oem steering wheel. This was done without removing the front bumper cover, but the rear bumper cover had to be removed for mounting horns there via drilling holes for negative ground with brace of the horns. Starting with the front two, which I mounted behind the the upper grill with heavy duty zip ties-no screws or hole needed here. I ran the + wire down through the engine bay to the + wire of the oem horn and spliced it and the + wire leading to the rear altogether. The front - wires were ground to the firewall becuz they can't ground themselves to plastic to which they are secured. The two rear horns metal brace grounded directly into the metal bumper brace/support behind the bumper cover with screw. As I stated the +'s were connected to the oem + along with the front horns.(3 way + hook up) So, now all 5 horns work simultaneously...you talk about a loud "sickening and nauseating" horn this thing is now..:hyper: While testing my neighbors came out and said "What the hell are you doing over there...there are no trains around here, can you knock that shit off please!!!'':rotfl::rotfl: I'll take some photo's and try to record the sound soon and post it... So you got horns in the back bumper? Just curious as to why you would do that. I want to blast the fool in front of me, unless it's so loud it really doesn't matter where you put it?

I have a set of real Hella Supertones that I've been considering installing. So you just spliced the +ve and -ve from the horns to the OEM wiring and that's it? The Hellas come with a relay and other instructions on how to wire it up with a harness. Unnecessary?

Cool thanks for the diagram. Should get off my lazy butt and install them. The stock horn is a joke for highway travel.

No, I'm not saying it's unnecessary, I'm just sayin' I didn't use them:D JavaFit's diagram is more likely than not the way it should be done....especially when you have 5 horns blow'n up!

haha yeah 5 is crazyy, i tried taking my shrouds off to paint them because the red diddnt really go with my theme but not all of my screws would come off aghh but its ok, because since then ive bought red candy chassis braces and just got my coil overs which are also red candy haha. so i guess my theme is now red white and blue lmao

:rotfl:Goobers, since going in there, why don't you add another PIAA to that half as well, or two, or three....:rotfl:And really piss'um off!:D
I would love to add the other horns I'm missing (330 and 600 hz) get a bigger tone range. Even though I've only got half of the set in, I've gotten plenty of people's attention... that is, until they see that I'm in a "small car" and choose to ignore me again, like that idiot that made me go up a curb the other week. I have no doubt he saw me... but he was in an SUV... and tried to bully me off the road. GRRRRR |

Cool...I think you should mount'em. I don't think the red would throw yur blue and white theme off kilter.. Don't know what type of grille yur sporting but, the horns aren't overly visible thru mines.
