Anyone running on Goodyear Eagle GT tires

I am ready to replace the Dunlops however because of some issues with overseas no one seems to have any Yokohoma's in stock. I have found some Goodyear Eagle GT's that look pretty nice and made for sports compact. 50,000 mile tread warranty which is good - anyone have any personal experiences with these tires?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure Perrenoud Fit has had a set of those on his BOM GD3 before. If no one else chimes in, send him a PM and I'm sure he will be glad to give you his thoughts on the tire.

Talking Ah ya know me 2 well Hootie... chime time>

Yea Cat I have them and there a good look on the GD3. The ones I have are 195/60/15 a/s tires they're very heavy tire so MPG will suffer but if your going for a looks they're great. They also stick to the road very well, not that I see MR Fit going on any road courses. Tire Rack had them 3/10 for 67.00 per tire + S/H. and Wallmart has the best price here for M/B 5.00 a wheel! tire valves extra 3.00, compaired to the tire stores @ 25.00+ per wheel Wally World has the deal of the month.
GL and keep us posted w/ some pix!!

I have them and they ride like crap. very harsh compared with the stock Dunlops with slightly better handling in my opinion.

I swore off Goodyear anything after they found out they owned Dunlop. There was mass exchanging of e-mails involving manufacturer's defects when all four of my stock Dunlop's flatspotted at 10,000 miles and they basically gave me a "Sorry, kid" and a foot in the ass out the door. If you ask me, a company that refuses to warranty the treadwear, and doesn't even honor their own defect warranty without being so dodgy about it, is a company that puts out inferior quality products and KNOWS it.

On the one hand, Goodyear does make some good stuff. Can be hit or miss. I heard the Eagles were pretty good tires for the price.

I had a set of Goodyear ResponsEdges on mine a while back....they were decent for the first 30k and pretty rotten for the last 20k miles I had them. They cupped and rode rough. I'm running Hankooks right now and with 45k on them they are actually quite decent...much better than the original Dunlops.

Which hankooks are you running and have you used them in snow?

I have the Wal-Mart equivalent of Eagle GTs.. I have less than 1000 miles on them and the only really bad thing is the loss of acceleration and fuel mileage because of the weight of them... They have amazing traction in dry weather, very wet roads during a heavy rain storm and on unpaved roads... The size I have is 205-50-16" mounted on 12.8 lb Kosei K1 TS wheels... It is hard for me to believe how much traction they have but the weight really slows my car down too much.. The cornering ability I have with them inspires confidence that keeps me driving with the throttle pedal on the floor longer when approaching a tight curve and staying on it hard without under steering when I'm well into it.

I'm using the Optimo 426's. Oddly, the ratings are not that good on TireRack. That said, I've just had a better experience I guess than others. I have used them in the snow, no issues...but I try not to drive like a jackass. Jackassery won't help.

I have a little over 2000 miles on mine now and along with them Buddy Club N+ coil over suspension set up a bit higher than the stock suspension.... I have had the rear springs on long enough to settle some and I noticed after the first trip to town and back that the front springs were lower than when I had left the house... I plan to keep them just high enough to not scrape the front lip under normal spirited driving... Once the springs have settled in as much as they are going to and I have the front end aligned I'll see how much stiffer I can set the dampers and add air to the tires and see if my arthritic body can handle it for more than a couple of hours at a time.
