Welcome to the forum!

I checked though my service manual and if your 04 auto is like the 07 auto there is no filter. There is a fluid strainer but it's buried in the transmission.

Look up one of the diy posts on changing the trans fluid and they have the number of and the location of the filter.

An '07 has an inline transmission filter on top of the transmission, under the battery holder.

Opps, I stand corrected! I'll be more though next time someone asks a technical question. Thanks!

For those who are interested/curious, the automatic transmission filter is illustrated as ref #5 in this diagram:

2004 a/t transmission filter

Thanks to you all for the responses. I am still in limbo as I am still not able to find the location of the 2004 tranny filter. does anyone have a diagram of the 2004 tranny? that would greatly help. my car does not have the little round filter under the battery compartment.

Huh. Unless one of the international members posts more information on an 04 auto I'd check the owners manual. I'm sure if your car has an atf filter it will be in the maintenance schedule. If it is listed go to the local Honda dealer and ask them where it is. If going to a dealer is not possible perhaps a local parts store or service station can assist.
