Fitstir, I have a Yakima myself so I guess this could apply to the Thule? I put a 48" on mine so the air could go around and over it. They recommended 50" but that seems to impede air flow.

I believe yakima recommends 44 inch, which is what I use on my GD. Yakima Dealer InfoLookup

I stand corrected, it's been awhile I know I went smaller than what they recommended

I have a Thule too. I have no idea what size it was, but it was bigger than 38". I bought mine, as I was advised my another that, Thule are the best for roof racks. I take mine off when not in use. I've had bad experiences of cars going rusty under the fittings.

kage - is that your Fit? It looks amazing! I have one in the similar colour; but can't seem to get it as shiny and bright as that - or it could be that grey, rainy British weather doesn't enhance its appearance much.

Every time it rains hard, really pours I spray my car with simple green then drive the highway to work. When it dries , it dries shiny. I never wash my car just spray it during the rain
