TPMS problem, please help!

TPMS problem, please help!

I just got a set of 2011 sport wheels on my 2008 base, now the car is on pms lol (tpms). How I turn the light off?

you have to get the sensors in the wheels calibrated for the car, you can do that at the dealer.

You didn't say if the old sensors were installed in the new rims??? If you don't use the same sensors as your old rims, you will have that error.

Im using the sensor from the 2011 Fit. I guess that have to take it to the dealer.

You shouldn't have to. If they are the same TPMS sensors used in the original wheels, and they were detected by the car, you can use the same sensors in 4 other wheels, as long as they are on the same car that used them before. I've done this a few times already, myself. If, on the other hand, you are still having a TPMS problem, it is possible that a senor was damaged when it was put in the wheel, which also happens. If it was, it will not send a signal and you'll get an error. If you continue to get the error, have the dealer or a tire store check it out. They can detect which sensor is giving you the problem. Also, how long have you driven around on the tires since the change?

I think he is saying...he bought new wheels, and used the tpms from the new wheels instead of the ones from his 08 fit.

The dealer will need to reprogram the 2011 tpms sensors to match what the computer in the 2008 fit is looking for.

Had you used the tpms sensors from your 2008 wheels, you wouldn't have the light.

^ Yeah is like you say im using the sensor from the 2011, im going to the dealer to get it reprogram.

You will need to get them program by the dealer or a tire shop that has the machine to do it. Does the fit have a 2nd wheel option setting for on the dash? This makes switching the old wheels and new wheels easy without going to the dealer reprogramming it everytime u make a switch.

Everything I've read and my personal experience with sensor change-overs says that there can only be one set of sensors saved in the computer. Maybe in the future, Honda will figure out a way to have two sets of sensors logged in the computer.

Ok, I went to the dealer and they try to charge me $100 to reprogram the sensor, I talk to the salesman and he did it for $20

The only ways I've seen people do it is to put tape over the the indicator or cover the led in the dash. Tape over the indicator is easy and you will never notice electrical tape because the panel is so recessed.

There I also a trick I read about. A guy built a tube with mounts for all 4 sensors and pressurized it. He kept that tube in the car in the spare tire area.

X2! My '08 Fit 5-speed sport uses the stock 15-inch alloys with winter tires and 16-inch Honda HFP wheels with ultra high performance summer only tires. I spent a lot of time trying to kill the TPMS dash indicator, no luck but a piece of black masking tape solved the issue. The TPMS in the '08 is a lame, single sensor configuration system, requiring a $90-$100 dealer reset charge! No thank you. If average car owners were able to check their tire pressures, we'd never have this TPMS junk in the first place!

We're able to, it doesn't mean we do it on a daily basis as the TPMS does.

If you have two sets of wheels it might make sense to buy 4 new programmable sensors and program them to match what you've already got, then you get working TPMS all the time and spend the money only once. I think the sensors are around $50 each.

Most countries do not require this device. This is another example of your government (unfortunately, mine, too) butting its nose into places it does not belong or understand. People who can't tell the difference between a spark plug and a nose plug make those decisions for you in Washington, D.C.
