Hood damper & OEM JDM hinge install help!

Has anyone installed a hood damper to a USDM GD3 using the OEM Honda JDM/EUDM hinge? I stopped by AJ a couple days ago and picked one up. They sell the kit as a T1R hood damper with the brackets connected and comes with an OEM Honda hood hinge that it bolts to.

My problem is it has to be installed on the drivers side and there is one freakin bolt I can NOT get to for the freakin life of me. It's the hinge bolt closest to the windshield thats tucked under the plastic. There must be a trick to this.

HELP!!!! Worst part is the passenger side has both bolts right out in the open!. lol

Well with some searching I just found out the newer civics have the same problem. You need to remove the whole cowl... Hopefully this is a somewhat easy job. ughhh...

Not exactly sure where it's all attached. My Mugen strut bar is blocking a bit of my view and I don't wanna pull in the wrong spot and break something. I still remember my highschool auto teacher saying "the first time you break it so you know for the next time". I'm trying to avoid this.

i know you've probably figured this out but for anyone else who's having this issue i did as well until i removed both wiper arms. then the cowl pops off 2 clips and a tug. its not hard at all just be patient and finesse
