Take it to someone with a radiator pressure tester. With the engine cold you remove the radiator cap and attach the tester. The you pump up the pressure and start looking for leaks.
Here is an example of a pressure tester.
Radiator Pump Pressure Leak Tester Checker and Cap Tester w Case 30 PSI | eBay
Also pull the oil dip stick and look at both the level and for any evidence of coolant in the oil. If you find the oil level too high or a milky brown stuff floating around, do not drive the car and figure you probably have a blown head gasket that needs to be replaced.

Thanks alot bro... you're legend. i think i should get the mechanic to pressure test it.
I do not know if they have them but Auto Zone has a lot of loner tools. If they have one of these you could borrow it and do it yourself for free. Another place to try is to go to a radiator repair shop. It will only take 5 or 10 minutes to do it.
I have often thought of buying one but I only need one every 5 years or so and always have managed to borrow one when necessary. They last time was on my wife's Jimmy. I found a cracked plastic radiator end cap in less than 3 minutes with it.
Good luck
I just noticed your location says Sydney. If that is Australia forget my Auto Zone comment. I have a friend that lives near Bondi Beach.
