MPG with roof rack?
well... '08 Sport Automatic; I added the roof rack, fairing and a sky-box 18 last summer for travel lacrosse and it was probably an avg 3-6 mpg depending on incline and desired speeds. At 70-75 mph going up the mountains of TN we logged the worst MPG to date at ~26 mpg.
So as you already know, it will affect your mpg but does it really matter?
If mpg is a concern, pick up a under mount receiver and a bike rack as it may be more mpg friendly.

Thule 50" square cross bars and 480 traverse without a fairing caused a 1-2 mpg drop on my 07 sport AT.
Fairings, though designed to help mpgs and aerodynamics. They mostly just reduce loud noise caused by square shaped cross bars.

We have a couple of roof racks, one with a front panel that always costs a couple mpgh and one with only rails that its hard to see much effect on mpg unless its at interstate speeds or loaded with stuff that makes it equivalent to a front panel. Its the area added to the frontal area that matters.
