Driver-Side Fog Light Not Working
Driver-Side Fog Light Not Working
Hi,
New to the forum but with ~250K miles on my 2007 5AT Black Fit.
So driver-side fog light not working, for the past 2-3 months maybe, removed the bulbs on BOTH fog lights and switch them over, the passenger-side fog light works with both bulbs, the driver-side fog light with NONE of them.
Obviously more to the "story", for sure some electrical issue, anybody might have a hint of what the reason for this issue might be?
Pretty easy to change the fog light bulb and/or the entire component if somebody needs to do it for own reasons.
Thank you very much for your attention.

Thank you very much for the reply.
You can do that only if you remove the entire front bumper, obviously no intention on doing that at all. The wire to the connector is very short, it doesn't go outside the front bumper so all you can do is look at it from outside with a flash light AND get your hand INSIDE the fog light hole, that's it. To work on the fog light wires and terminals/connector, check/clean them out, you MUST remove the front bumper completely.

Thank you very much, but if you remember my initial post, I've already checked BOTH bulbs and they are both OK, you cannot do that W/O unscrewing the one and only screw for each fog light and then disconnecting the connector in order to remove the entire component (lens plus bulb) and then take out the bulb, but the connector AND the wire remain INSIDE the bumper, the wire is very short, so all you can do is look at it with a flashlight and maybe spray on some anti-corrosive additive or whatever. If you want to replace the entire connector and/or wire, must remove the entire front bumper first.
I guess I know what you mean. But just in case you need to take the bumper off, it's easy and you don't need to worry about it.
I really don't know what to suggest now, but just wishing you goodluck on troubleshooting. Sorry I can't be of any help.

Don't worry, no big deal, obviously no intention on taking the bumper off, it looks ugly with just 3 front lights but that's the only negative effect on the car... and driver LOL
Pretty easy to replace the fog light bulb, IF the bulb is the only issue, but for the rest... some other time.
It might be the connector itself and/or the terminal, wire, etc., I wish we had one fuse per each fog light but just one fuse for both fog lights, so the fuse is not the issue here.
Cause you live in Canada like myself, a fog light BULB for a Honda Fit Sport: $12 + tax at Canadian Tire, $47 + tax at the Honda Dealer.
Drive safely.

I forgot your car came with foglights from factory, mine is just an add-on for the base model so (maybe) the wiring is different. :/ And I hear you on the pricing, I used to work for Honda and I know their prices. But now that I work for PartSource, I get better pricing.
Yeap, Fit Sport, a very short wire inside the fog light hole, you need pretty small hands to get your fingers inside in order to disconnect the connector to check the bulbs.
PartSource owned by Canadian Tire so I guess pretty much same prices.
Also be careful for rear wheel alignment especially if you drive a lot like myself, unfortunately rear alignment can't be done, my rear tires wear out on the inside, all I can do is rotate all four as often as possible.
Drive safely.

With the shims, I don't know what you Mister are smoking out there in the Cowboy Country LOL but personally in time I've been to two local Honda Dealers AND 2-3 CT Service places, got the alignment readings for free BUT all of them told me that NOTHING they can do to adjust the rear wheels. In some cases I mentioned the shims, same big NO as well.
In my case, the rear toe is the only reading in red.
BTW, how much would cost to do a PROPER rear alignment using shims, parts AND labor.
I'm using 205s oversized wheels (Enkei) and tires btwn April and Dec, the original 195 stock rims with snow tires on only Dec to end of March.
Rear Toe issue on both type of wheel/tires.

Maybe they just didn't want to align the rears because it's a bit of work. I don't know about the cost to do it at a shop because I get my alignments for free anyway. Shims will work, or even if you do a bit of a research there is a "washer trick" for our models.
They didn't do it simply b/c they've never done this job before!!! Fit Models are in very small number on the market plus you gotta drive a lot in order to see that you need a rear alignment, and ppl do not drive a lot nowadays b/c of gas prices, therefore pretty much nobody with a Fit has tried to go for a rear alignment job.
If you're curious, go to the places that does the job for you for "free" and ask them how much? they will immediately tell you: couple of THOUSAND dollars, of course I've known for many years about the shims jobs and asked about it couple of times, nobody has gave me a price quote in just hundreds of dollars.
This type of jobs are not done over the Internet, it's very good to know terms and name of parts off the Internet BUT the real job when you have to pay for it, with your own money, hard-earned money, is done in real life with your credit card in hand, personally my very first question anytime I inquire about a car job is HOW MUCH?
Unfortunately no freebies for me whatsoever.

That is true!
The rears are a pain in the ass to get aligned, I don't know why Honda never thought about it beforehand. If I recall correctly, it involves putting the shims/washers in between the drum and knuckle that's why shops (or customers) don't even bother touching it because of the labor time compared to just adjusting bolts in the front end.
So far my toe on the rear is still good considering I've lowered my car on springs, but I guess I'll find out how much time it consumes aligning when I move to coilovers.
I'll keep this forum updated!

Why not remove the bumper? After you do it one time and know what you are doing it takes all of 5 minutes to do it.
And yes there is a thread on how to do it. A couple of screws and some pop in clips and it's off.

And all for a damn fog light BULB????
Whatever...

So as per these Canadian Tire Alignment Machine readings my problem is with rear LEFT toe only but in reality only the rear RIGHT tire wears out on the inside and mostly no issue at all or very insignificant with the rear left tire.
Unless the CT Alignment Guy was on drugs or a pretty unreliable alignment machine.
Go figure!
I used a free alignment readings-only coupon.
BTW, no idea what's the advantage of designing and then building a car with no chance on adjusting the rear wheel alignment!!!
Did you ask BEFORE giving this elitist narcissistic advice: do you have any car mechanical knowledge, do you have the proper tools, do you have the time and proper location, are you good in electrical stuff, do you have the electrical tools, do you know how to test wires and connectors, do you have a second vehicle to use it to go and buy the new parts while the car you're working on is w/o front bumper and more, and if you make mistakes do you know how to call a tow truck and pay $100 to take your car to the nearest service to fix what you have damaged big time, do you trust anonymous ppl in cyberspace giving you advice you can never verify unless you trust them blindly???
And all for a damn fog light BULB????

And even some WOMEN members have done it so even you with NO SKILLS should be able to do it since there is a thread on how to do it and all you need are a pair of screwdrivers.
Touchy little bugger aren't you. You were the one asking for advice get it now whimper about the advice you get and can't handle.
and ps: it goes back on just as easy so all one needs to do it locate the problem put it back on and go buy whatever parts you need no need for a tow truck.
If you don't have the needed meters to diagnose this yourself why aren't you down at the dealer paying to get it done rather than asking for help?
To all yes I do.

The only reason I've opened this damn account is to ask for OPINION and maybe somebody to share some personal experience with a similar issue, help happens just in REAL LIFE when somebody with his/her own hands and own tools and own time and a good heart helps you out to fix the problem for good.
I totally regret opening the damn account, had no idea this is forum is so unfriendly. I guess that's the normal cyberspace business, hate is in the air all around us.
I'm outta here for good.
