Poor Fit

My 07 fit is going downhill. The paint is terrible. The cupholders have mud in them. It smells like someone's dirty ass. It wasn't always this way. When we bought her in May of 2006 she was beautiful and new. My new bride and I loaded her up, had a custom hitch fabricated, stuck a bike rack in it and took off across the continent for a massive honeymoon roadtrip that took us to many beautiful and magnificent places. I washed and waxed her and cleaned her like a Fit Freak for 5 years. Fast Forward. Our child was born in 2010. We decide we need a bigger car. We buy a VW Passat wagon. I decide I need a track car again. We buy an S2000. Now the poor lil' Fit sits outside and never gets cleaned or waxed.

How Many Miles

How many miles do you have on your "Dirty 2007 Fit"?

Do yourself and your Fit a good turn and send it off for an extended stay at your local detailer.

My Fit has about 85K. Done nothing to it except; new battery, tires, air cleaners, shift knob (the plastic one wore out), several fills of washer fluid, 2 sets of wiper blades, about 15 regular oil changes, and many gallons of gasoline. I gotta do something, I feel terrible for her. I think that the paint on the Fit was one of the areas that Honda skimped on to keep the price of the magnificent car down. My wife and I were joking that when our son learns to drive on it and he makes it his DD, he'll wrap the hood in carbon fiber because the hood will look so bad by then. And I'll tell him that this was the car in which we brought you home from the hospital. Just like the old forest service employee I knew down in AZ that in 2001 was driving a 1981 or so civic wagon that his son had come home in from the hospital and had learned to drive on. The Fit is, after all, the Civic wagon reborn.

On the other hand, your Fit will still fire up when that Passat has decided it's time for a smoking break. For having kids around, I'd be looking for reliability. Unless you want to educate them early on the dealership environment :P
