License Plate Frame Bolts Coming Off

I closed my hatch today on my '07 fit and my license plate came falling off with it. I noticed that the bolt itself came off the trunk. Used some washers on both sides of the trunk metal and placed the bolt on the inside of the trunk. Has anyone else had this happen?

That's a temporary fix. Your holes will enlarge over a period of time unless you get the nut welded back in place. A welder or body shop can take care of it for you. Depending on where you live, it could be a rust issue as well.

I can't see the hole getting bigger from holding a license plate. He said he used two large washers. I would think that will do just fine. However, your point about rust should be emphasized. I would try to smooth out the hole with a dremel, then paint over it before installing the license plate. Be sure to use stainless steel or aluminum washers.
