Hard shifting in AT 07 Fit Sport

My Fit shifts quite hard (i.e., noticeable chug/thunk when shifting up and down). I recently replaced all 4 coil packs and spark plugs. Do I need to reset the ECU? Anyone else have this issue? It gets a little better after the car is warm but it's still not seamless.

All signs point to needing new transmission fluid. When's the last time that was done?

I have no idea. I bought it from its original owner about 2 years ago and don't know if they ever did it or not. Easy enough to do on my own?

Yes, easy.

Buy genuine Honda ATF: DW-1 from a dealer (cheaper at an online dealer). And, the proper size crush washers that seal the drain and fill bolts.

Then, drain the old and fill with new (~3 quarts, a little more if you are sloppy)

There is no filter or oil pan to mess with as on American cars.

Drive the car for at least 15 minutes or so, make sure you get to all gears and reverse.

Then repeat. Note that it takes three drains to replace most of the fluid, so I'd buy 10 quarts (or a case).

The last time, put the new crush washer on the bolts. Torque is ~ 35 ft-lbs but it is not a critical measurement, I just do it by hand.

++++++++++

In the future, do a single drain and fill every two years or 30K miles and you will never have a transmission problem...

Try checking all your motor mounts, when I bought my 07 sport used, the vehicle jerked each time I shifted up and down. I checked all mounts and found all motor mounted were broken. I looked it up on amazon and got all three for a great deal. After changing them, the shifts gotten a lot smoother. If you want less engine movement, you can always fill in the spaces in the motor mounts with silicone compound, since they don't make motor mount inserts for our vehicles. Loved them on my 98 civic coupe
