Just bought a 2007 Fit

Hi folks. loved my 2011 Fit so much i had to get another. My 2011 is a a basic automatic. We have driven it 98K without incident. It gets 32-39 mpg depending on weather and terrain. I figured it was time to find another car because I didn't want to have 200k on this by the time it was paid for. So........here comes Fit II

the 2007 is a Sport with a stick. It has 27K on it. It has been an urban car for all of it's life, driven by the daughter of a Lawyer in St Louis. My first takes are this.

I do not expect the same gas mileage. The 5th gear has higher ratio than the overdrive gear in the auto. No big deal. I still think 31-37 is possible.

Is their anything i need to look out for with this model year? Any recalls?

Thanks
Phil

Yeah leaks but it can be fixed. Coil ingitions, just pump 93 and youll be fine. I love the Fit also, after losing my 08 silver Fit, i went and bought an 07 black sport. I worked on mines a bit, need to work on the dents and repaint . Anyways, welcome to the Gd3 family

The factory installed coil packs are a common issue on the GD3, replacing those with new OEM (Hitachi I believe is the manufacture) is typically recommended. 93 octane is a little overkill for completely stock... YES, you can see some benefits from running it though 87 octane will be fine.

What benefits? [no sarcasm intended]

Octane has to do with detonation, which is usually perceived as knock when it occurs. Are you saying that 93 octane through the GD3 noticeably reduces knock?

I recommend calling a Honda dealer and have them run your VIN to check to see if the recalls were done. There were two notable recalls with the driver's side window switch. There is also a warranty extension for the electrical power steering; i believe it is extended for life.

Mine leaks around the driver's door and the hatch. From what I understand it was taken to various dealerships 5 or 6 times to repair under warranty to no avail. I may go in with some silicone myself this summer.

I never mentioned anything regarding knock specifically. Though you can see the PCM try to compensate for the octane change by advancing the ignition timing. There's a thread somewhere around the forum regarding 93 octane.

I think the warranty extension on the electronic power steering is good till either 8 or 10 years after the car's delivery date when new OR 150k miles. Though, there may be another EPS service bulletin if I remember right.

Just driving the 07 it feels more solid than the 11. Interior seems to be made of heavier materials. I imagine it has to weigh a bit more.

I've got a 07 Sport M/T with just over 102K and Ive had no issues what so ever and I've done my fair share of mods. Aside from the usual things (spark plugs/oil) I've also installed a cold air intake, intake manifold, headers, down pipe, and cat-back exhaust with a flash pro and my engine purrs like a kitten.. and I'm still getting around 35 mpg! I'm running 91+ because of my tune, but 87 octane worked just fine when I was stock.

My '07 has 175K miles. It has had it's alternator replaced under warranty, I replaced coil packs and plugs about 100K, front brakes at 160K miles, and a battery and tires. That's all it's had done. No leaks, no oil consumption. I drive it hard!

I just discovered something interesting. This car has probably only been driven 2-3000 miles since sometime in mid 2012 or so. The last service sticker has a due date of 11/12 or a mileage of 31,500. it's only at 27.6 now. The oil minder is at 60%. Interesting.

I am really happy to not hear a bunch of folks talking about clutches here. I know it's not a major expense, but I would like to think they last a long time.

I just bought an '07 as well in St. Louis. I came to find out that it leaks in the rear hatch 3 days after I bought it. I took it back to the dealer and they did their thing, which I knew wouldn't work just by telling me what they were going to do. I notice there are small cracks in the top corners at the end of the roof water channels. I just took JB Weld and a small brush to close it up. Cover it with touch up paint and I haven't had a leak since.
