Went to NJ 12/5/15 and picked up a Blackberry Peal GD3. Wonderful patina, nothing that can"t be buffed out, haha. Drove it home 300 miles at 35 mpg. It had the sticking hatch latch that I looked up here. And was working properly within 10 min. Next is the mysterious trunk/boot leak. Then she'll be a sound little ride.
this thread is to keep track of repairs and time it'll be a short 1.

Steady working on her. I have so many spares from MzFiT that this has really worked out well. The one thing that surprised me was when I change the plugs they were all just hand tight? Change the coils too and the engine liked that.
finished up both sides buffing with meguiars 10 and 6 compounds with an orange pad on an 6" orbital pad. Then a coat of meguiars gold carnauba wax, brought out the blue metallic and looks wet. Also the vent guards where buffed out.
Cleaned the carpet and made new floor mats outa some rubber back carpet tiles. Just used the rubber mats outa MzFiT as templates, worked great and should last for a long time.
The valves are adjusted and fluids changed. front brakes and rotors are new. one of the driving lights had a broken lens but i had 4 in stock. She came with a clear bra which has done a great job keeping the paint looking good.
Removed the rear bumper for repair and a re- spray. she came with a 1500lbs. trailer hitch which is nice to tow a small trailer or bike rack.
rotated Good Year tires which are 3/4 life left.
and now it's time for some sleep.....

BPM is 1 sick color!
Buffed out the rear hatch, and got well into the rear bumper repairs today.> My favorite work getting done on this project.
This BPM is so crazy when the sun hits it. can't wait till i can catch some warm weather to paint the r. bumper.

I wish Honda would revisit the EF hatch, with a new updated version. Keeping the rectangular front and rear design. and lower the roof line an inch or two. And push out the fenders out 1/2 to 1".
Or maybe i should chop, drop and strech the Si

Thank yea Glenn
I am buying and selling it and then pickup another GD3. The 1st gen is a great car so that's what I'll stick with. Also can just buy/ keep/ hunt parts for 1 type of car.
But they will be a not too distant future, an icon, and will be like the EG hatch some day. They are already 9 years old here.
I'm pretty much over buying and restoring can't make anything doing that, ha ha. This way I can still do what I love to and earn a little here and there too.
Happy New Year!

That the way to keep the money moving. My son stopped working on his projects again too. Not enough time. Happy New Year Mike.
I have not had my GD3 for a while and I miss it. It was a great car. It was built better than some of the newer cars.
I like the EG hatch too and my son has 2 CRX's 1 is a performance car and 1 still has the 1.6 and came with a K20 motor that is going into the performance one. If the other car is not too bad I might restore it so I can commute to work in it but I think its beyond fixing.

Above is the finished bumper and I re-installed it yesterday. It looks even better back on the Fit! ha ha. The lil thing is a great car took it over to the inspection shop and had an up close and personal under side inspection. And it looks great under there! very happy. The DS caliper is tight not locked up but have a rebuild kit at Advanced Auto & ill install tomorrow, and that will be the last issue with this car. Then it's off to Great Bridge at the bank parking lot with a for sale sign. This is my first car I have bought by myself to re-sell and am actually doing that! not keeping this one.
O well lets see how well this works out.
I want to thank my Lord JC for this whole project from the cars I've detailed to this one getting finished up. It's all been through prayer and trying to" listen" & do what's right.
Amen, Yahweh!
Happy New Year to all and to all a spectacular 2016!
Big Mike

Went to Advanced today to p/u the caliper kit and there it was shipped in yesterday morning on their computer! yeah, but I don't know how they do it ..... lost the kit in their store!!
So re-ordered it again today and they asked for me to pay for it up front, and I said I'd be happy to when it's in my
hand.
Finished some little details this afternoon, floor mats, repaired the infamous GD3 cracks in the roof by the hatch (JB Weld). After the caliper is repaired (equals better MPG) tomorrow Monday she's For Sale

Krazy Man!
Hi Glenn
A K20 in a CRX?, crazy man! Sounds like my kinda ride (big smile)
I wonder if a 3.2 V6 would fit in a CRX or a Fit?? Yeah they do!

Mike, He already had a B18 in their but got a good deal on the K20. Someone else's project that they had no time for. Plans are to get it running first. Blueprint the head and get a few cams. Hoping to get 300 plus HP.
The V6 is too heavy and I know of a few friends that had problems with blow by and oil in the runners that turn to solid carbon. But its cool that it fits in the Fit..

Rebuilt the DS caliper and it was a snap. It went like this:
Clamped off the rubber brake hose, broke loose the 12mm, 17mm, 10 mm and the 14mm banjo fitting move out of the way. The 17mm which hold the caliper to the hub, emptied the b. fluid in a pan and put the caliper on the bench removed the 12mm bolts for the carriage. Then the fun part ... I screwed a rubber nipple on the blow gun and put it where the brake line goes and a folded rag in front of the piston & POP! out came the piston. It wasn't locked in place so it didn't take much air to get it out of the cylinder.
The problem seemed to be way too much anti-squeal. It got past the dust seal and that's what was on the piston, good thing is it cleaned up nice (only use Dot 3 brake fluid to clean or lubricate the parts) The groove for the square O ring was a little dirty but a 90 degree pick and a small screw driver to clean it out. The dust boot seal was funky dirty from the anti squeal that also helped hold water around the groove, same method there too. Dot 3 and scotch bright is a good combo for cleaning the piston and bore. Blew it out and wiped down with a lint free rag and dot 3. assembly was easy enough installed the new cylinder square O ring with plenty of Dot 3 same thing with the dust cover and placed that around the piston. I used a big pair of pinch type vise grips but a med. C clamp is what is recommended. and just lined up the piston in the bore and gave her a squeeze.
The bonus was taking off from a stop, there's so much less clutch/gas action, smooth... (like a fresh jar of Skippy). I drove her to wally-world (to pick up a few indispensables like tire foam and detailer) when I got there and check the temps. with a infar red, the calipers where both the same temp. about 65 degrees.
Success!
I'm gonna miss this car but if it wasn't a great driver I couldn't sell it, right.

I can relate Glenn,
Me and a few of my friends have the same problem with blow by, and don't even get me started on oily runners
