""TPMS" light not (_!_) indicator stays stays on
2008 Fit Sport Automatic with A/C. It's the actual "TPMS" light not the little low pressure light.
I took it to the Firestone and they looked at it and shrugged and basically said "Well, that happens sometimes". I haven't had the time to have it taken care of lately and it hasn't been an issue until today. I noticed that the left front tire looked a little low especially compared to the other tires. But the indicator (_!_) light was not lit but the "TPMS" dash light was.
I'm taking it in to the dealer next week or the SRS propellant wafer recall and the passenger side SRS indicator recall and wondered if there was a recall on it, is there something I could do myself or should I just let the dealer fix it
I cannot find any recall info for the TPMS so I figured I'd check here first. Any ideas?

When the ! light is on, that means one of the tires is reading low.
When the TMPS letter light is on, that means there is a system fault and the ECU can't read one or more of the tires. Typically this means that at least one sensor is kaput.
Firestone should have been able to determine this unless they don't have a sensor reader. I know Costco does and charges roughly $50 per sensor to replace. No idea how much a dealer charges, but it wouldn't surprise me if it were much more.

As stated, most of the time the TPMS light comes on after a tire pressure sensor goes bad. Occasionally there can be other reasons, such as cellphone and charger causing RF interference or other electronics in the car causing interference, or a control unit failure.
The low tire warning cannot work as long as the TPMS warning is illuminated.
There is none.

It's not a DIY unless you can read each of the sensors electronically, break down a tire from its wheel by yourself to replace a bad sensor, and program new sensor(s) to the car after replacement. Can you do all that?
Besides a dealership, many regular shops and (I'd hope) many tire specialists have the equipment to handle most TPMS issues. Call around and ask.

Bemo, I have the same thing going on. Discount Tire will read them for nothing and it's about $60 a wheel to replace the sensor. We have them down in KC, but I don't know if you have them in Lincoln. Like the other post said, Costco might do it for about the same. My local Honda dealer quoted over $200 per wheel, thanks to labor and about double the cost for each sensor. They wouldn't read it for free. It was an hour minimum labor to check it. If you're lucky, it's just one or two and a local shop can do the specific ones for you for under $200.

Therefore, legislation.

I bought a used 08 Fit and the seller said one of the tires has a bad sensor is why the TPMS light stays on no matter what. When I brought it right away to have the MT trans fluid and oil changed, the Honda sealer told me it would be $150 to find the bad sensor and replace. Doers that sound high or about right?

Because of the age, I would be tempted to find the sensor on eBay, Amazon, or RockAuto, order all 4, and take them to a local tire shop for installation. They will have to dismount all 4 tires, install the sensors, and then program them to the car.
Might cost a bit more, but you'd have all 4 replaced.
The sensors have batteries in them that eventually die of age. Probably better to replace all 4.
Just food for thought...if you are nearing tire replacement, I'd wait and replace them at that time.

Thanks. The tires are in good shape albeit budget tires. I would think there would be a way to disable the system, I see there isn't!
I will just deal with the indicator being on it hurts with my OCD, though. Or get them all replaced when I replace the tires.
