Hello everyone, just signed up to ask some questions...and I apologise for my lack of automotive knowledge as it's not as good as I would like it to be.




What is this thing inside the yellow circle, and what is it connected to (dashed lines)?

My question is. what is thins thing inside the yellow circle...it appears to be some sort of filter, but the filter is no longer there because it turned to crumbs. I asked a mechanic and he responded "is the car still working?" and I said, "yeah"...actually its been working for 2 years, and no one has said anything during vehicle testing.

so yeah, and what is it connected to, and what is its purpose... should i be worried or have it repaired?
