2008 FIt sport with 42000 km....?
I sold my second gen FIT which really is more of a minivan...and not as much of a car. I wanted to get back to a gen1 fit, as I always loved my gen1, never really loved my second gen fit. So, I found a 2008 Fit sport with 42000km. I'm sure there are things to be concerned about on a car with such low mileage...what would those things be??
I drove it and the suspension indeed felt like a new car....the body is in good condition..but not mint. WOuld the exhaust be a concern? Or any suspension parts?
THoughts?

hi Ottawa, Toronto here. If exhaust is a concern it won't pass emissions. If it passes, which I fully expect it will, there's nothing to worry about. With that few kms, I'd imagine the thing would be in immaculate condition. I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I bought a 2008 last Summer for $3500, with 140k kms, more than three times the kms that yours has. Did you buy it?

hey man, did you buy the black one with the red HOnda emblem?? I saw it on kijiji last year in Toronto...
When I saw this come up for sale I was really jazzed about it...but the thing is, this car is not in immaculate condition. SOme dings in the body...and nothing particularly immaculate about it. But the suspension did have a very good feel compared to my old gen1 fit with 200k that I sold last year.
I may go and get it after all....but I was also thinking that low km's don't have a huge value on a FIT. THat little engine would go to 300k no problem. It's all the other things that are of question.... I must agree though, when I saw that car at that price, I thought for sure I would buy it. THen I drove it and reconsidered...

Mine is a silver 2008 Mt, bought it off autotrader. I'm very very happy with it. Mine has a few dings on the body, just a few, one of them near the keyhole on the driver door where an idiot mechanic tried to do some work to the lock mechanism and put two very obvious dents right near the keyhole.
Why did you reconsider after driving it? I thought the suspension felt good. If you don't buy it very soon someone else will...

The car was listed for $8999 on KBB. Clean retail price was $8225. I talked him down to $8200. After taxes, fees and trade-in ($500), the out the door price was $8575. My previous car was a junker so I'm surprised I even got $500.
Overall, I'm happy with the price and the car is in great condition, with the exception of some scrapes and scratches on the exterior. It looks like the previous owner was a little careless. Nothing really noticeable unless you're up close.

Yes and no
yes, low km's on a car that can go so many *shouldn't* make for such a price difference...but it does. Since it *can* go so many miles, at such low km's its *almost* a new car! Also, coils, plugs, clutch, brakes, coolant, ball joints, etc etc have so few miles on them so maintenance on those items is still a long way off.
