I am on Tanabe medalion G-fordan. Straight thru exhaust with surprising unnoticeable low end lose for my AT ride. Sounds sweet but not loud definitely...

Quick question, can someone suggest something to me that is similar to the sound of the HKS Hi Power, but cheaper? I heard that there are cheaper options than the Hi Power with similar sound, but I don't know what to look for.. Help?
Thanks, and great thread by the way! Love the sounds

Since this board is so much help... I eventually found the answer to this on a foreign Fit forum, and the HKS should be a few dbs higher unless it's the silent hi-power model. Everyone I've heard experiences low end loss with this as an axle back. Not so with the tanabe (once again, based on what I can gather qualitatively.)

I like the tanabe because it has a little bit of growl/rough sound to it. Not a fart, and not a solid racing-style tone like a spoon n1, or the like.

From what I've heard/gathered over weeks of researching this is - the J's is really loud as a cat back, and the Kakimoto GT-box is deep and kinda farty (in my opinion.)

Then there is the Mugen which seems quite loud in videos, and gives lots of pops and sputters with a higher pitched and rough screaming sound, yet subdued on the low end of the frequency range. The Tanabes do not do this popping from what I can tell.

The Greddys do however, with the ti-c model, and spectrum elite. From what I can tell, these two systems are louder than the ones offered by tanabe.

What I've also gathered is that the tanabe is arguably the higher quality system over the greddy due to the use of materials. I think it's cheaper too - plus you don't get the dipped tip look.

Personally, I'd go with the Tanabe Touring Medallion, but not with a 4" tip on there. Their JDM Fit model has an oval tip with the same overall design of the system.

I'm thinking "header" instead (if you want to call it that) and then seeing what happens and work my way back. For style, the S2000 exhaust tip is a nice little touch I see on lots of jdm fits if a little more distinct appearance is desired.

Let's see any others... the T1R exhaust really does look like a fantastic overall design and quality. I won't buy one because of the dipped tip, but if that is your thing, I think it offers the best balance of sound, proven power gains, and looks/design (minus the damn tip!!! grrr!)

If they want to sell me their prototype for dirt cheap (which didn't have the tip), I'd consider it.

Thanks for all the clips! This really helps me out in narrowing down the system I'm going to get.

Hey everyone, here are the pics from my personal thread of the comparison, install, and final install photos of the A'PEXi N1 Evolution Axle Back Exhaust for the 2009-2011 GE8. Videos included too.

Stock/A'PEXi Comparison and install

Final Install Photos

***Video Clips***

Just an FYI, in these clips the only thing i have changed from the engine back is the exhaust, therefore this is with a stock intake. When i get my DIY back on I will take videos for comparison.

how much was this "special deal" you speak of? that sounded awesome! do you have your ecu chipped so your rev limiter kicks in lower? or is that at 6700?
