MPG Decrease w/ Tanabe T70143A / 2011 FIT
I'm on my second tank of gas after installing a TanabeT70143A Medallion Touring axle back. Ittook longer to line up the ramps to get the car up in the air than it did to dothe change over. Used silicone grease onthe rubber hangers and those slid right off the hanger on the car. Simple transfer over to the Tanabe. The gasket stay attached to the B-pipe andlooked good. Used approx. 25 ft-lbs onthe flange bolts.
Maybe because the exhaust tone is now pronounced versus theOEM muffler but the engine / transmission combo never settled and would seem todown shift and "hunt" all of the time.
MPG immediately went from my normal 32-33 down to 27 (dash& hand calculated). I'm not aspirited driver so I wasn't out burning up the road.
Part way through my second tank, the dash MPG jumped to36-37 but eventually settled at my normal 32-33 (dash and hand calculated) due to some city driving.
So, am I crazy or did the car have to learn the new exhaustor was it me? I still think the carshifts a lot now but maybe it did the same amount before but I couldn't itbecause of OEM muffle.
What do you think?

This is just a thought, but if you've had some big daytime temperature swings lately like we have had here in Alabama, that could have something to do with it. I've noticed on my 2012 Sport that mpg can vary as much as 2 - 3 mpg from cold weather to hot. I guess the engine having to pump in more fuel to burn with the colder denser air when it's cold makes the gas mileage drop.

Probably right. Just neurotic in Pennsylvania. Should have been warmer by now. The Tanabe fit / finish is great. Looks like it belongs. No misfit angled thing hanging down almost scraping the road. I periodically spray inside and out with WD40, let it sit overnight, and wipe it down in the morning - looks brand new.

doesnt need to relearn if you still are stock up to the last catalytic converter. If its just a catback or axleback, the car should perform the same.
Your right foot is simply learning to stop itself from loving the new exhaust sounds
