Are you still on your OEM battery?
2009 FIt...early in the year manufacture/in-service...battery still seems ok. Anyone else with a 2009 OEM battery?
EDIT....in-service date is October 2008 (bought it used in 2009).

I replaced mine in December. It was cranking a little more slowly.
January it sat out all night in 13F weather (great atlanta icepocolypse). Next morning it started without a whimper. Not that this is any justification but I would have felt silly trying to prolong the old battery's use if it had crapped out.
$90 with trade-in at NAPA for a 151R.

Yes- I have a 2010 with about 33K miles. I recently had it to the dealer for transmission fluid & oil change. They said my battery tested poor & recommended replacing. I have had no problems with it starting, so will wait until I do to replace.
Anyone know of a good inexpensive source for the battery? My dealer's quoted price was less than AutoZone. Hope my NAPA will give me the same deal as Steve/

Check napa auto parts online for your zip. They're currently charging $92 with trade where I live. No special deal. I don't think they'll install it out in the parking lot like some parts stores will so be willing to yank it out yourself. You can return the old battery at a later time, just pay $15 more and get a $15 refund when you turn it in.

I still have my original battery. Turned 100k a couple weeks ago. Bought the car new in Aug/Sep 2008. The last 3 times I've taken it to the dealer for an oil change, they've told me the battery fails their testing. I figure as long as it turns the engine, that's not failing. It has the same symptoms that Codger01 described - takes a couple extra chugs to turn over, but still does.
I'm also on the original wipers (though the rear is torn...).

Thanks for the replies...good to know that battery life can be quite good. In replacing the battery, be sure that the new battery has a current date. I called my local NAPA store just to check to see if they had a 151R and they did....but its been sitting on the shelf for over a year. If its more than one of two months old, I wouldn't purchase.

Good point, mine came with a current date stamp (it's usually just a letter equivalent to the month (Jan = A, Feb = b, and so on) and the year 14).
I'd be reluctant to take one more than 60 days old. They lose charge on the shelf and sulfate, losing capacity. As long as they are kept charged (the normal condition in your car) they don't sulfate.
Side note: the NAPA battery I got was made in Korea. I wonder if they added acid over here?

My battery went bad last month.. I bought my car in July of 2006.. That is a little over seven and one half years I got out of it. I was hoping to get eight years out of it.. I'm sad that it didn't last longer....

Interestingly enough, the battery died the day I bought the car. We had it in a parking garage, and then didn't use it for a week and the battery died (I guess it was on the boat/ dealer lot for a while). I drove it for about 2 hours and never had the problem again.

Hot florida sun....
2010 Accord (5 months old), battery was replaced free by dealer when they discovered it was failing. Tech said the battery was too small for size of vehicle. Higher cranking power battery installed
2011 Civic, also about 6 months old and battery was failing, but replaced free by dealer.
2011 Fit, 17 months old, no issues
2013 Civic in family, and all is well, 18 months
