LED'S in Mugen Front Lip?

Has anyone ever put led DRLs in their mugen lip? I've noticed that there are 3 small "holes" on each foglight cover that would be perfect for drilling and mounting single leds kinda how the JDM RS leds are mounted.

Also, does anyone know what would be a good bright durable led to use for this?

I'm thinking something like this "aero illumination" part on this list. But there's no visible link to actually buy the part.

Your imagination and LEDs - flexible LED strips, LED modules, 12v LEDs

Thanks for the suggestion. However those really cheap led sites always seem to product really dim LEDs. I'm looking for something that's oem quality and will have a very high lumen output.

I have bought a number of leds from the site I posted, you are only assuming they are not quality or bright, don't ask for suggestions if you already know all the answers.

I don't have all the answers, but I do have past experience with cheaper LEDs of websites like the one you posted. Sorry I should've been clear that I wanted something that was oem quality and brightness.

Thanks anyway for your help.

I've already researched this and there was a thread where the guy actually did it, but all the pictures are gone now. Check link below:

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-...onda-jazz.html

YoukantpimpinaKIA actually put you on the right track as far as the LEDs that you would need to use to replicate the look you're going for. You'll need this style LED:

Flush Mount LED Bolt

http://m.ebay.com/itm/161387322598?nav=SEARCH

The nice thing is that they have a small nut on the back of them so they'll fasten tight and create a good seal. They're also water proof.

Eventually I'll get around to doing it.

Thank you both for the suggestions I really appreciate it.

I think I've found what I'm looking for though.

6K WHITE DIY 3W LED DRL FOG DRIVING AUX LIGHT

It's basically the same thing but about 10 times the lumen output per led. I spoke to the vleds guys and they say each one of these output 180 lumens. Whereas the other brands spec sheet shows a maximum of 18 per led.

Awesome! Post some pics when you're done, maybe I'll get around to doing this sooner then expected. I think it'll look good on the Mugen fog light covers.

Let us know how flush they sit, if they're to big or to small to fit the fog covers.

I doubt a $10 Led even rated at 180 lumens, could be much more than a DRL/accent light?
Let us know if the output is enough to be used as a Fog/Driving/Aux light as stated. If you get that for $10, then you have done well.

One of my 1 Watt led DRL applications...blinding at any distance, even in daylight.
(Lolz...V-Led is Located in Bellingham WA, about an hour and a half from me)

^ would you care to take a picture of that setup with the sun facing directly at it?
From a distance too if you can. Wanna see how well it cuts through.

Thanks!

It is kinda overcast, the headlight was yellow in compairison to the white of the led's, camera didn't really show that either, with the headlight on this pix had to be taken off axis to the headlight or it wanked out the camera. Not sure if this shows you what you want?

Here is from across the road, this photo is almost straight on to the bike.

Thanks for the pics. That definitely helps. Looks like they match the brightness of the halogen DRL. I will definitely consider these if the vleds ones end up being too big.

How did you wire them?

I wired them to the low beams (always On) with Posi-Tap connectors, you can also make out my alignment tool used to hold the led's in place as the epoxy set.

Thanks, clean work there. Will definitely be a little trickier to align right on the mugen lip. I'll probably have to take a hole cutter and completely remove those dips rather than drill a small hole in the center of them to mount on the outside of the lip.

Now I have to actually order a lip and get some 3000led foglights, since I won't be able to change the foglights with the lip on anymore.
