I have to ask, I've been looking around for a while, where do you buy your cable? Anywhere that sells just the cable either sells a sketchy brand or it's almost as much as a kit containing the same length of wire.

There's a great place here in Orlando called Skycraft Electronics, they do a lot of surplus stuff and they stock a TON of surplus Metra wiring. That is where I got mine, much cheaper than a Car Audio shop. RCA's I did get from a shop I used to work for so I got them way lower than retail. Skycraft appears to have started selling online as well, Skycraft Parts & Surplus, Inc. they are a great resource for more than just wiring too, I got White LEDs and resistors to do my interior lighting for $6.50. They have 2/0 cable for $2.75 per foot, pretty good price compared to a Car Audio shop and I am sure they have tons more you can find that you will like. Check em out and another good site is Parts-Express.com sells Speakers, Replacement Speakers, Speaker Building Parts plus HDMI Cables, Home Audio and Video, Pro Audio and Commercial Sound. We offer services for Speaker Reconing, Speaker Refoaming, Speaker Repair. Great selection of Elect.

For your power wire, is that 22 feet inclusive of all your power/ground wire (battery to disto block to amps, amps to grounds)?

Also, was there a lot of slack in your rcas? I was going to run my rcas on the passenger side, so it's a less direct route. If you didn't have a lot of slack, I better go start finding some long ass cables for cheap.

Thanks for pointing out parts express. I've used them for other things, and was planning on buying carpet from them, but I'm probably going to buy from knukonceptz for my wiring and rca cables.

Thanks for your input. I don't want to take the spare out, so this isn't an option. Interesting install, though. Why would they put the crossovers in that area? That would just mean you have to run double the speaker wire to the fronts.

Yes there was a little slack in the RCAs, as for the power wire, I cut it to the cars length, again I prefer to have MORE wire than I need than LESS.

Taking the spare out and putting everything in there just makes everything so much easier......until you need the spare...but thats what AAA is for.

If I go on a longer trip, I just put my spare in by back seat.

Ok, so I should be good with getting a kit that has 18 feet of 4 gauge and ordering an extra 15 feet for running wire from the distro block to the amps, and the amps to ground.

I was looking at your thread again, and I'm looking at the speaker mounting you did. Did you drill screws into the sheet metal? If so, did you predrill the holes, and did you use a rust inhibitor? I always hear of people using a rust inhibitor, but I'm not sure exactly what type of product that is.

Drilled into the metal with stainless steel self tapping screws, rust inhibitor is fine if you want to use it, but with a newer car the odds of that really being an issue are low. Just my experience with it, older cars tend to be more of an issue with this and rust.

I've finally took the plunge and ordered my stuff. Here's what I went for:

Massive Audio CK 6III ($164 with their "Make an Offer" feature)
Massive Audio CK 6III (CK6III) 6.5" 2-Way CK Stage III Speakers

JBL GTO1004 ($234.10)
Amazon.com: JBL GTO1004 600 Watts 4-Channel Full-Range Amplifier: Automotive

JVC Arsenal KD-A815 ($180, unfortunately forgot to apply a coupon code that I found for crutchfield)
JVC Arsenal KD-A815 CD receiver at Crutchfield Signature

Plus I bought carpet for my amp mount, wiring from knukonceptz, a new sub grill and sub box, and some fuses. Not sure if I'm going to do the whole build log thing, but when I get to installing it, hopefully I have an opportunity to take a few pics. Everything with shipping and what not came out to around $850. Pretty stoked to get this stuff up and running when it gets here.

Keep us updated, make a build thread even if you only post like after installed pics. Everyone likes to see builds, well the audio freaks like me do anyway

I'm all for checking out what people do with their systems, so hopefully I'll take pictures of what I do.

Couple questions...
The mounting depth of these speakers is 2.75". Does it only need a .25" ring or should I make a bigger one?

Also, how big are your tweeters? I wanted to mount them similarly to yours, but if mine are too big,i have to think of how to do that as well.
