Few questions about an install
Few questions about an install
I am looking at upgrading the system all around in my Sport.
Right now Im looking at going with a Pioneer AVIC navi head unit, first question is I want the clean install look like the factory Navi option in the Fit with the OEM bezel, do double din units line up properly with that?
2nd question is, how hard is it to get to the upper dash tweeters?
I'm looking at going with some 2 way components up front and coax in the rear. Something maybe in the lines of Polk speakers. How important is it to go with say a 50x4 amp vs the head unit power. I'm not looking for ear blasting volume but I know head units quality starts dropping pretty fast as you push them. Are there any amps that fit under the front seats?
I don't plan on any subs initially maybe later, if I did it would be small and compact.

An outboard amp that is rated at 50x4 RMS should do 50x4 maybe a little more. H/U power will usually run between 18-22 RMS and that is the best bet. There are a lot of factors that help an external amp "sound" better but you would do much better than using the onboard amp of the new H/U. Many companies make small footprint amps like JL, Alpine, ARC, as well as a few others and most all of them will do just fine under the seat. I had a GD so I can't comment as to if any of those will fit under the front seat of a GE. Just be careful since that is right above the gas tank.
Did some searching and found all the info I need on the install aspect of wiring and disassembly thanks to posts by fit4spl. So I guess nobody needs to bother answering my silly question about tweeter install, I thought the tweeter grill was molded as part of the dash panel, appears it's just a clipped in insert.
Well, I installed a Kenwood Excelon DNX9980HD. The face does NOT sit flush with the trim kit I got from Crutchfield (according to crutchfield's item# is metra).
BUT, the nice thing is... my HU can tilt forward... and the bottom of the face (which actually angles out) ends up flushing with the trim.
So, if the face of Pioneer is like the Kenwood and can tilt forward, it probably flushes the same way.
