Fit EV HVAC Controls

I saw a few older threads about people wanting to swap automatic climate controls into their GE's. It seemed like the first major hang up was that any parts imported from Japan would be for RHD.

Well, I'm not sure if anyone really noticed/cared, but the new 2013 Fit EV has those same automatic controls, now in a conveniently LHD form factor. Of course the Fit EV is in hyper-limited availability at the moment, and you can't even buy it... just lease. But I noticed that the Bernardi site that seems to be popular on this forum has a listing for those parts:

(can't seem to make a link to that specific parts page, so screenshot instead)

79601-TX9-A41ZA and 79602-TX9-A41ZA

No price, and can't add to cart which I assume means "not available". I'm new to this whole thing though, so maybe someone with a better understanding of Honda catalog ordering can shed some light? Do you think as the EV rollout continues these parts may become available? Is there any sort of dealer/supplier list that may show an MSRP?

Hmm, not too sure on this since the is the first time I've noticed such a thing. I'd wait a bit longer as more Fit EVs hit the road because I'd assume (don't take my word for it though) that since the EV is such a limited production vehicle, Honda just won't sell you one of their control units for the EV... At least not over the counter and without a VIN if you order at a dealer.

In addition to that, if you did get the controls I wouldn't think that the PCM for your Fit would acknowledge the existence of the controls. Mind you, I'm not shooting your idea down at all and would love to see this executed on a non-EV. I think it would be a matter of mounting and wiring it as well as programming it to function correctly.

Again, just my 2 cents. Best of luck with your search and hope you get the exact answer you're looking for.

Entirely possible Hootie. If I had some optimism about it though, perhaps because the JDM Fit has a PCM that handles it, maybe there's an avenue for USDM non-EV to work as well.

Expanding the subject slightly, the EV also has heated power seats. Again, parts aren't available for sale, but those might be a lot easier to integrate than HVAC.

The PCMs in some JDM and EDM Fits/Jazzes should have the functions since they are, of course, a factory option in those markets. It still would be unlikely or a bit tricky to get it to function properly since may see the module/switches for the automatic climate control but may not see your Vehicle Stability Assist, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, or even Daytime Running Lights.

In addition to that, if your Fit is an automatic trans and Transmission Control Module is not separate from the vehicle's PCM then you may also run into transmission related issues since the US and Canada markets are the only ones with said auto trans. To the best of my knowledge, everywhere else has a 7 speed CVT or a manual trans with a 5 or a 6 speed option. If you're manual, you'd likely wouldn't come across this issue with a TCM.

Again, not shooting down your idea but if you want to get it to function you'll have to do a bit of research when more parts are released to the public.

As for the integrated power seats, that should be a lot easier to install in theory since you "can" install the heating elements in the seat cushions, run the necessary wiring, circuit protection, and switches to get it to function correctly... to get started you'd need to get a wiring schematic for your Fit and a Fit with heated seats, do cross referencing and research, then if its do able just go for it.

FYI, I just completed this in my ge8. Check out my DIY below if you're interested.

Hope that helps!
