My Recaro Project
6 Attachment(s)
Ok, since my Sprintex project is nearing completion and I still need to wait for parts/tools to finished it,
I jump a bit and start my Recaro Project. I had been planning to install a pair of Recaro SR-7 ASM Limited Ruby for my car since long long long time ago. I am still saving the money needed to buy the Recaro SR-7 ASM Limited Ruby but I had bought most of the needed parts to make most of the Airbag system still work (except the side airbag on the seat itself). I start (last year) by buying 3 Recaro Honda Access (Modulo) seat rail for JDM Honda Fit. They are the same as the Recaro seat rail since the Honda Access (Modulo) one also made by Recaro but funny thing is, it is cheaper to buy the Honda Access (Modulo) one than buying directly from Recaro. Why 3 Recaro seat rail? because I need to buy 2 Left Side Rail and 1 Passenger Side Rail since I will canibalize the seat belt anchor from the left side rail and move it to the right side (passenger side rail). The JDM Recaro Rail on the right/passenger side don't come with seat belt anchor. Here they are: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468179536 https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468179536 https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468179536 https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468179536 https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468179536 I even bought the Recaro seat belt cover, eventhough I won't install it now hahaha:) https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468179536 Continue below: |

Early this year,
I also bought a USED USDM Honda Fit Passenger side seat from on of Fitfreak member. it have all the wiring, OPDS and weight sensor plus the ECU and Airbag included at very friendly price :) https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468180178 I start do tear apart the seat today, it is really a pain to tear it apart, Lots of clip that hold the fabric and lots of wire clip that I need to unclip: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468180178 https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468180178 https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468180178 https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468180178 The Airbag module and ECU module: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468180178 https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468180178 Here are the upper foam that contain lot's of sensor that I need to separate from the foam later: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468180178 The Lower Frame after I remove the bottom foam:https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468180178 I want to remove Four Weight Sensor (Load Cell) and move it later to the Recaro seat rail so it can detect if there is someone sitting on the seat so the passenger front airbag can work, and this is one of the load cell: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468180178 Problem is, Honda use a very weird kind of nuts and I need to find the right socket or just use something someway to open it: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468180178 https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468180345 https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468180345 To be continued... |

Before I separate the sensor:
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468194918 After I separate the sensor: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468194918 https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/atta...ine=1468194918 Next update probably months away, I still need to buy: a. Torx socket to disassemble the Load Cells b. Resistors to trick the ECU into seeing the side seat airbag still connected c. Pairs of Recaro SR-7 ASM Limited Ruby Once I had those two above then I can start assembling all the sensor into the Recaro Seat Rail, and install the seat. |
Purchase some special Torx tools to disassemble stock passenger seat rail Load Sensor and move it to Recaro Rails...

Tools to open the special Torx Bolt that hold the Load Cell arrives today:

I had been a while since I am making progress on this project...
Today I decided to take out the Load Cell (Weight Sensor) on the stock passenger Honda Fit seat and turn out I realized that Honda Fit seat design is totally different than the Honda CR-Z weight sensor design... so the lesson learn from Item-9 at CRZforum can NOT be applied in our case... but... I found a different solution anyway :D Here are some pictures of me disassembling the 2 rear weight sensor... the 2 front weight sensor is still stuck on the Honda seat rail... I might have to destroy the seat rail to extract it... will do it later... https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...e96f17ff8f.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...94c8947dc5.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...189391a233.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...b624452f1b.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...237ae730aa.jpg So basically what I will is to reuse all the leg from Honda OEM seat rail, than bolted the weight sensor upside down on the leg and then bolted on to the Recaro Rail... I also need to take out the rivet that currently hold the leg of the recaro rail since they are too high and replace them with Honda OEM seat rail (much shorter) but after adding the weight sensor, the weight will be the same again as original Honda OEM seat height. This means I have plenty of space below the Recaro for Pioneer under seat subwoofer or even Alpine one... |
Keep it up!

Thanks for making this thread! Did you end up cutting off the Honda leg and attaching it to the Recaro rail?
I might have to do this soon. I'm hoping to find a smaller Torx set that isn't as expensive but has what is needed to disassemble the seat. |

I was about to buy the recaro's but then the budget got diverted to my audio system... hopefully I can buy this in 6 months from now after I move to a new city... and hopefully before ASM stop producing the SR-7 ASM Limited Ruby... |
Looking forward to seeing them when you get them. Thanks!

Finally after years of delay, I ordered (and paid) for a PAIR of Recaro SR-7 ASM Limited Ruby with the matching ASM Shoulder Cover Ruby a few minutes ago :D
I can't wait for them to arrive here :vtec::p |
Awesome news! Can't wait to see them.
I ended up buying civic Si seats to replace my Recaro's and am working through the airbags. I lived the Recaro's, however there is no quick tilt/recline function, and I use my Fit like a work truck o's it really slowed me down. I also felt bad for hitting the plastic backings with pieces of wood. Hopefully I can get the airbags working this time! I will sell the Recaro's and rails now, sadly. |

By the way, my buyer in Japan informed me that my 2 seats were store display model because they were the LAST 2 available Recaro SR-7 ASM Limited Ruby available (although they still have about 30 units of the SR-7F (FLAT base model) in stock) and ASM just announced about the out of stock and out of production of the Recaro SR-7 ASM Limited Ruby today, below is the link to ASM announcement: https://autobacs-asm.com/blog/recaro...s_view&no=3744 I am glad that I order them right on time before they stopped production... I mean after 6 years of dreaming, I almost let my dream get away https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/imag...ies/tongue.gif I might not be the first people in the US to own a pair of Recaro SR-7 ASM Limited Ruby, but as compensation, I become the HAPPY owner of the LAST 2 Recaro SR-7 ASM Limited Ruby available in the world https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/imag...es/biggrin.gif |
Great timing! A few more days and your six year wait may have been for nothing! I am installing my Civic Si seats tomorrow. Goodbye Recaro :(

I install the Driver Side Seat yesterday, I have not install the passenger seat since it will require much more works/modification to the seat rail and retrofitting sensors to the Recaro. Hopefully I can do the passenger one in the next 2 weeks.
Here are pictures and step for Driver Side Seat: Use the 2 spacers per bolt to mount the Recaro SR-7 ASM LImited Ruby to my Honda Access OEM Recaro Seat Rail: https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...0bb48db917.jpg Then bolt them up: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...47bdf71d21.jpg Install the seat rail adjustment lever (make sure the part where it have RECARO printed face upside so you can see it each time you adjust the seat :p) https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...c94b6f2309.jpg Remove the wiring harness for seat position sensor from the original Honda front driver seat, since it is impossible to take out the position sensor itself from the original Honda front driver seat (unless you disassemble the seat completely, I decided to buy a brand new position sensor to make my life much easier :p) https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...40fbd60b17.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...076adf8afa.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...7dcd67b03d.jpg I bought a used Honda Fit passenger seat complete with airbag a long time ago from another fitfreak member, so I decide to just CUT the wiring harness from the airbag to use the connector plug: https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...2296459793.jpg Soldered the resistor to the connector (that I cut from the airbag module above): https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...4005613093.jpg At first, I was confused on why the connector seemed to short circuit and did not show the value of the 2.2ohms resistor, later I found out, this type of connector is shorted if unplugged, but once you plugged them to their counterpart socket, it will open and not shorted anymore  I left the position sensor lying on the carpet beneath the seat since there is no way I can install this to the Recaro seat rail, and then I connect the resistor connector to the vehicle airbag harness and seat belt buckle sensor harness: https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...1bb38218a0.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...4a9c9ad428.jpg |
Turn on the engine and NO airbag/SRS error at all :vtec:
So, I get the new BOLT to secure the seat rail to the floor of the vehicle (yes, I buy a NEW Bolt per the instruction of Honda service manual and use the washer from Recaro): https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...b8d880b2de.jpg and.... INSTALLED :D:D:p https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...dd5b33570c.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...1e8486fd58.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...a34c505943.jpg To be continued for the Passenger side :thumbups: |
Looks great! How do you like it?

I LOVE it, I means if (seats) looks could kill, this is it :D I wish I bought it a few years ago (so I had enjoyed it), but better late then never :p |
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...df9616686c.jpg
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...7abdbfaf32.jpg Then I install the seat, and turn out the height differences between left and right seat are almost nothing, I am lucky :D https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...15920ebb7a.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...bb07026e01.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...46fbc408e1.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...7dabba18f4.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...76ba509370.jpg I LOVE MY RECARO SR-7 ASM LIMITED RUBY, THEY ARE SO GORGEOUS (look even better in real life because the alcantara is really DEEP BLACK, unlike on the picture). :thumbups: :p :D The only thing is, turn out the seat OPDS sensor that I took from the 2009/2010 used seat and the corresponding weight sensor were not match with 2013 Honda Fit (my car), so next step is to get both the OPDS seat sensor and weight sensor from my own 2013 Honda Fit right seat... I am too tired today, I will try to do it soon :p |
