Did you ever find out what this is used for and if ami mmi works? I have a 2004 honda civic from Japan with the same port

I have the same looking port in my 2012 Cr-z, but mine has the pictured cable with a usb at the end with a "premium club" dongle in it. After a bit of google searches the premiumclub thing seems to give you more options for the navigation part (if you've got a current subscription and are in Japan) I tried plugging in a usb with mp3s on it and nothing, and then a charger for my phone and also nothing. Hope this helps...
