It doesn't use any straps, ties, or anchors.
Just lift the retaining bar up....set the bike in...lower the retaining bar....done!
It also can be leaned backwards for the hatch to be opened.

I've got an XC2 on order and should be in tomorrow. I like that is has an adapter that will fit a 2" receiver on our Odyssey but will also work with the 1.25" receiver on the fit.

I've had the Swagman XC2 rack for a few days now and I really like it. Very solid construction, minimal movement once tighened down. Super fast and easy to get the bikes on and off. Now to get a hitch installed on the Odyssey...

Before I got the Swagman, I had a trunk mounted bike carrier that I used with my Prelude. Even though the bar that rest against the trunk was foam padded...it still managed to slightly damage my paint job. When I first noticed it...I threw the carrier away. I won't ever use one of those again.

Got it all hooked up today and even towed the boat around for 15 mins or so. I was impressed, thanks for your inspiration.

I did it like this lol. Not a lot of room to work around the exhaust, but I got it done. Don't think it's ever coming off.

I have a pair of ramps like yours that I use for changing the oil. Instead of using the lift...drive it onto the ramps, five minutes later...the oil is changed.
It helps that Honda makes everything so easy to get to.

I went with a slightly different hitch design. This one also bolts in the center. It did require one hole to be drilled into the chassis on the drivers side but it wasn't too difficult. The part was a Curt hitch 11064 and it was about $150.

I have the Curt hitch on my '09 and have hauled a small trailer between Ohio and Maine dozens of times without any issues. The hitch is solid. For my hitch installation, I also backed the car up onto ramps. I then centered the hitch on top of a small floor jack, secured to the jack with some clamps and straps, and then used the jack to lift the hitch into position

Without crawling under my Fit to see....What did the center part of your hitch bolt to?
The Draw-tite has two on each side....but no center connection.

Under the spare tire well there's a metal piece called the 'trunk pan mount". The hitch bolts to two holes already in that piece. There's a picture attached below. But..., the picture comes from another Fit Freak thread in which the OP found that his trunk pan mount had broken off allowing the hitch to wiggle. He fixed it by drilling two new holes all the way through into the spare tire well. For what it's worth, nothing has broken on mine in the 10 or so years it's been installed but obviously the piece can break.

That bump under the trunk pan is usually where I put the floor jack when lifting the back end up. With the hitch in place that mounting point no longer sits in the jack "cup" so it's a bit less secure when lifting.

I like this hitch design because the central support has a long lever arm... maybe it doesn't matter but it seems like that may better resist the torsion from a fully loaded bike rack.

I too like this design feeling it just distributes the loads (trailer tongue weight and pulling loads) a little better around more of the cars underside unibody structure.
