Metallic clunking sound when slowing down
Hey all! First post here, I have a 2013 Honda Fit Sport, lately I've noticed this very loud almost metallic clunking sound whenever I am slowing down. It doesn't do this consistently, sometimes I will slow down and everything will be nice and smooth and other times it clunks sometimes more than once when slowing down, especially in traffic. I dont know how to explain this to any mechanic or car person but I feel like my car shouldn't be clunky. I also know almost nothing about cars, so please educate me!
More info needed - do you have a manual or automatic and does the clunking sound happen when you are in gear as well as in Neutral? Does the sound increase frequency or sound level when you decelerate from a high speed to stop vs. slow speed stop? Sound change in freq/sound level when you decelerate with any braking applied? Change when you are decelerating in straight line vs. around a curve / corner?
My bet is that it is a: (1) brake rotor/caliper/pad friction issue or (2) you have a bad bearing in one of the wheels.

I may have a similar issue? I have a 2013 with a m/t that i've had since new. northwest pa winters, roads, @130000 miles. mechanically mine seems great but once in awhile pulling away from a stop i get a "tung" metallic tone (sometimes wheel is turned). not sure where it's coming from but sounds more in the front. i've checked all shrouds for looseness and jacked up the front end to examine springs in front. all look ok. ? thank you for any suggestions! (any chance stabilizer bar or bushings?) 2013 Honda Fit Base Alabaster Silver :Factory mud flaps, all season floor mats, Honda leather shift knob with blue thread (last one only thing i got off the dealer free when purchasing!) 1/2" plywood spare tire cover=)
