2011 Sport with GPS issue
2011 Sport with GPS issue
So, I got into my Fit on January 1, and freaked out because my clock is wrong. I've gone through the settings for the clock, and nothing seems to stick. the next time I get back in the car, the clock is wrong again, and different from the offset I had put in.
Ideas?

So...What's the GPS issue?
The Date/Time on the GPS does not seem to be pulling correctly from the satellite. I tried several times to get it to set correctly. I eventually used a custom offset to the time, but the next morning, it was back to 12:00.
Same issue with same model (2011 Fit Sport).
This is a Honda Nav issue across all models.
Go to SETUP then hold down CANCEL-GUIDE-MENU buttons for 5 seconds to access diagnostic screen.
Run diagnostics and confirm that all is well.
Go to GPS INFO and it will show the satellite time, which is 20 years off and will say 2002. However. the (GMT) time is correct.
This is because GPS counts the year by counting weeks, and there is a limit of 1024 weeks. So it rolls over to zero every 20 years.
The junior engineers who programmed the nav system apparently did not understand this, which is why every honda nav system in the world with base year of 2002 is now displaying the wrong time.
People who have called Honda report that the official response so far is "the problem will auto-correct in August 2022".
I had the same problem on my 2001 Acura a few years ago, and it was eventually corrected by a firmware upgrade downloaded via the satellite link. This problem was supposed to auto-correct as well, but did not for me. One note is the download only worked when I reinstalled the original Nav DVD. Hope this is not the case with Fit.
You can access the DOWNLOAD link from the diagnostic VERSION item. I used this link, but it just downloaded the same version I already had.
Hopefully they will fix it before August.

I have the same issue with my 2010 Fit Sport this week. Owner forums for other models (CRV, Ridgeline, etc.) and a call to Honda customer support confirms that this is a "Y2K22" clock bug, and not a Navi or GPS issue per se. At this time there is no available fix. The customer representative I chatted with this morning says that the issue should self-correct itself in August 2022. Being a software engineer who knows something about date and time representations, I doubt this to be true, and I'm guessing they're just reading from a script to stall a public relations nightmare. My hunch is that millions of Honda clocks are affected worldwide. They could potentially issue an update DVD or USB stick for the affected navigation units (the Fit Sport reportedly manufactured by Alpine and using the now-defunct Windows CE operating system). We'll have to wait and see.
Same issue on my 09 Fit Sport with Nav. Time and date are both wrong and trying to adjust any of the settings for the clock does nothing to the actual displayed time.
I don't think I ever bothered spending money on one of the GPS update DVDs.

There is an issue with date and time stored/used a certain way in programming that only becomes an issue starting with the rollover to January 1st 2022 and going forward. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_f...bugs#Year_2022
Navigation Clock Issue
Let me guess, it thinks the date is 1/1/2002 and the clock is now a stopwatch. That's the date my 2010 went to ever since 1/1/22. Based on web search info seems there is a software issue. Have not found any fix or information on what Honda's plans are.
