Any GE8 Original Owners still….

Doing some file cabinet organizing on a snowy Saturday, came across my 2009 Fit manuals, window sticker, pre-launch brochure, etc. and wondered if other Fit owners like to keep all this stuff? I like keeping this stuff as it reminds me of that day when the dealership called and said “Your new Fit has arrived”. Dang I was excited and never thought that 14 years and 217,000 miles later I would still be enjoying this little car so much! Anyway, just wondered if any other Honda Fit owners like to keep their car paperwork. Here is my stuff I pulled from my file cabinet and wanted to share 😁😁. I was reminded that this Fit was made in Japan and 100% of the parts sourced in Japan?….plus the price of gas was high at the time similar to today.

I don't have the money or personality to ever buy a new car (the first scratch or ding would kill me), but I have all the materials in your pictures for my 2010 Fit Sport despite being the third owner. My younger brother bought the car from the original owner in 2012 (along with all the paperwork and pamphlets, which he kept), and then I bought from him in 2020.

I also have receipts for maintenance/repair since new, as both my brother and the original owner were record keepers. As the car passed 100K miles it was nice to look back to see if this or that part has been replaced or serviced.

I also have an Excel file, which I am adding to, for fuel use since my brother got the car in 2012. I like to remind him that I am averaging almost 5 mpg more than he did! Part of the reason he sold the car to me is that he wanted better fuel efficiency... Maybe he just needed to hire me as his chauffeur. I went from a manual 2007 Yaris hatchback to the auto Fit, so my efficiency has dropped a bit, but four doors and more interior room is nice with a rambunctious dog. I also installed a bunch of sound deadening materials when I first got the car, so it is much quieter than the Yaris was. It's nice to actually be able to converse with my wife or listen to the radio while driving at highway speeds.

I'm the original owner, still have my window sticker and the manuals, never did get the fancy pamphlet for options. Mine was a Suzuka built GE, one of the last '09's built before the '10 model year started.

I recently bought my Fit and found the window sticker tucked away in one of the manuals, nothing was missing and I love it.

I save all my stuff. Even the dealer's ignition key tags. I read that Ringo saves all of his stuff, too.

Whoa! Even the key tags. Thanks for mentioning that as I have felt a bit obsessive a few times that I wanted to keep those…guess it’s not just me 😀😀

I’m a 2012 original owner and still have the sticker. 151,000 miles later I’m still liking the car.

Original owner of a 2013. Yesterday, was looking for something in glove box and looked. Have the original manuals, warranty pamphlets, etc. that came with car and I folded the sticker up and placed it inside too. Yup, have everything except the pre-launch brochure. I bought my 2013 when 3rd generation was just about to come out. So, it is probably close to one of the last 2nd generation Fits ever made.

Sadly no, as the GE8 was also sold in 2014 in Canada.

Interesting. Going by memory (so don't trust this) I bought my 2013 in July or Aug 2013 and the new 3rd Gen was due to begin sales in Sept 2013 in the USA. I remember thinking to myself, I'll get the 2013 because they have been making it for 5 or so years and all the bugs will be worked out of it, but the new design they will have to get everything straight again. Plus, if I recall, my car was made in Japan and the new ones were going to be made in Mexico (again all going on memory here). Again, I said to myself "Self, cars made in Japan are better than cars made in Mexico". So, I grabbed one of the remaining Fits on the lot. It was a big Honda dealer and they told me they were not getting any more new 2013s in.

Keep cherishing that Fit I always say….lol. Btw Right or wrong, I share your beliefs about the Japan built Fits…there was also some feedback in another post that the crash tests were slightly better with the gen 2 versions but not sure myself

Thanks for all the sharing on this thread all! Put a smile on my face and motivated me to give my Fit a quick wash in the driveway with the 50 degree day here in Michigan. Happy Thanksgiving All!

What a charming thread. It brings me a lot of joy to know that there's people out there who could love an economy car like this one. I'm a second owner and don't have any memorabilia, but I love my Fit. Sometimes I'm unsure why, but I most definitely do love it.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I'm grateful for the people on this forum. You folks are alright!

Thank you for your nice comment @Pyts The Fit thing is hard to describe to people sometimes, but a few of my non-Fit driving family and friends always appreciate when another Fit driver waves or beeps when we pass. They think it’s kinda odd and fun all at the same time lol. For me, I just wanted a good gas mileage car back in the fall off 2008 and over the years whenever I looked at another car…I just couldn’t do it 😊😊

Found another long forgotten 09 Fit brochure I grabbed from the Honda dealership at some point. I need to clean out my file cabinet more often I guess. Now everything is all together and I added the pics to my original post. Have a great weekend All!
