Indicator stalk and wiper stalk swap(jap import - euro)

Just completed a stalk swap in my Japan imported Fit.
I am driving different cars from time to time and my whole life I was driving cars that have indicators on the left side and wipers on the right. When driving my fit I cannot tell you how many times I wanted to turn on wipers and accidentally turned on indicators, or when trying to spray mist on the windscreen- instead I have flashed my high beams, in short I am just having a hard time getting used to it. So I got myself a set of stalks from eBay from the UK market - Jazz model.

But as you might think it wasn't plug and play.
For the left hand side stalk you have to extend wiring because it will be using the plug from the right side.
You will also have to swap pins inside plugs themselves.

This is original Jap wiring on the wipers stalk:

How to swap according to pic:
Green - 3
Orange - 2 (same place)
Red - 4
Violet - 1
Black - 5
Yellow - 7
Blue - 6
In no.8 pin there is intermittent wipers if yours have it.
So it will look like this

Original Jap indicator stalk wiring:

How wires need to be swapped:
White - 6
Light Blue - 10
Brown - 1
Green - 2
Black - 12
Grey - 11
Red - 10
Blue - 9

Final result:

Good write up, I’m actually doing the opposite of this and converting my uk jazz to have the jdm fit wiper/indicator stalks

what happened when you initially plugged the stalks in without changing the pins in the plugs?

On the wiper side it didn't do nothing at all because the pin for the power was going in the blank spot, on the other side fog light was turning on high beams because it was the only circuit that was connected to power.
Good luck with the conversion!

thanks! I’ll basically do the reverse of what you’ve done, for the wiper stalk where was the black wire originally, 5 or 8? Hard to make out from the photo

That’s perfect thanks!
how easy was it to re-pin the plugs, is there a special tool for this?

You have to lift slightly that white plastic cover or take it off just like I have it on the picture (I have found this way better to keep track where the wires are going) and then from the side where it plugs in you need to lift a small latch that holds the wire, I will try to make a picture today and show you, it's actually simple.
Don't try to use force to not damage the plug, if you will figure it out it comes out easily

Help!

Hi, I am pretty much there with the swap, however in the 12 pin plug there is two no. 10’s in your instructions, red and light blue?

Could you help me confirm this?

I mean, it works as tested but just a little confused!

Much appreciated

Kris

4. LIGHT BLUE
5. -
6. WHITE
7. PURPLE (Rear fog)
8. DARK GREEN (Front fog)
9. DARK BLUE
10. RED
11. GREY
12. BLACK
