Suspension upgrades
Suspension upgrades
So the 2010 Fit Sport saga continues. It has 213k miles on it and we are shopping around the various options for coilover replacements. In the meantime, I would prefer to freshen up the various bushings in the suspension.
I have seen some parts to replace the bushings we have. I am also looking at just replacing all the bits and pieces(control arms, tie rod ends, etc) with new components that already have new bushings installed. I have seen Moog and Mevotech selling the parts in various places.
Does anyone have any experience with either of these approaches or with any good or bad suppliers?
I am curious to hear what folks have been through.
Thanks

ditto, bro.

Same here. Never heard of any of them.
It feels like the level of effort involved in replacing the bushings in existing suspension is pretty high, especially vs swapping out new parts with new bushings for old. I am making the assumption that the new parts Fit(I am sorry, it just never gets old to me) and that the swap will be pretty much unbolt old stuff and bolt on new stuff.
I we decide to go with upmarket bushings later, it should be easier to get them out of newer parts I would assume.
If the assumption is incorrect, well......
On a side note, last Tuesday I was introduced to the fact that my Japanese cars do not have Phillips head screws on them. They have JIS(Japanese Industry Standard) screws. It turns out I can buy JIS screw drivers and bits for my electric tools AND that its mush harder to strip them with the correct tool. Who knew.

Unless you want to upgrade to Polyurethane bushings, yes it would be easier to swap in a new part. But a bit more expensive.
If you have access to a hydraulic press you could do it pretty easily. Or if you know a shop that will press them out of the parts for cheap that would be another option.
As far as MOOG parts go, I would recommend the MOOG sway bar links. They seem thicker and more robust than the other tiny little sway bars I have seen.

Thanks for the feedback. I was leaning toward Moog for no other reason than there is this Moog that I have heard of....https://www.moogmusic.com/
