Thanks in advance.

PS It's a New York car and seller wants 6000 for it saids the performance modifications he made justified the price. The carfax checks out well maintained but feels overpriced for a 2012 but other listings are asking super high prices too. Honda Fits seem to be overpriced weren't prices supposed to come down from covid highs?

That looks superficial to me. A 10+ year old car from the northeast is going to have some underbody rust unless it's never been outside in the winter. That looks manageable (e.g., a bit of wire brushing followed by treatment with something like Fluid Film or PB Surface Protect).

You didn't mention the mileage or overall condition of the car. If the car has 50K miles and isn't beat up that's probably a good price. If it has 200K miles and looks like other drivers used it for parallel parking practice the price is high.

The value of "performance modifications" are questionable. What are they? Were they installed correctly? Are they something you want (i.e., something you might have added yourself) and also something that won't make the car less useful for you? For example, the roads where I live are horrible so suspension modifications that lowered my Fit or made the ride stiffer would be a negative for me. They would reduce the amount I was willing to pay for a car because I would probably have to remove them.

First, thank you for chiming in! It has about 140,000 miles on it and I test drove it already and I can detect no issues as far as drivability so I believe the parts were installed properly. He put a Bilstein adjustable suspension on it and the wheels are 15 inch Konig Helium wheels. Compared to the two other Honda Fits I looked at, I think I like this one best because it just felt a lot less sloppy. It hasn't been lowered but seller indicates that it can be lowered about an inch, I'm intrigued by the possibility but that's not important right now.

I forgot to mention KBB.com in my previous response. You can enter any information you know about the car and get a price/value estimate for your area. You can then add price/value based on any modifications done to the car, etc.

Looks like the CV axle was replaced as part of the recall. My 09 in Pennsylvania has worse rust and is fine structurally. Though I did get a hole in my catalytic converter, which I replaced along with the middle muffler.

not worrisome. my 12 with only 65k miles was about that rusty. northeast. kansas car youtubers would probably swoon and clutch at their pearls, but that's just how it goes up here.

that doesn't mean you can't possibly have rust anywhere that isn't an issue. as mentioned the CV joints you have were replaced under warranty. mufflers and pipes rust out and need replacement every so often. some bolts may be hard to remove without power tools. brake rotors and calipers start to rust and your brake guy will definitely tell you about it (well, they should). but suspension and body parts are thick and surface rust is normal.

looks like you've got aftermarket shocks (never seen blue color stock). probably the ride is not great but unless you want to replace working parts i guess it'll stay that way.

common issues to have checked, which you can read about in the forum, are that spark plugs are tight and coil packs look unburnt. keeping up on transmission fluid changes and valve adjustment is recommended, tho it's pretty obvious the cars can run a long time with people ignoring them.

i dunno about the 140k mileage level, but overall yea Fit prices are high. they discontinued the car and people value them. carmax took my car for 9k and turned around sold it for 15k, pretty crazy. 6k, i mean, it's hard to find any car for that little in decent shape.

drive carefully, it's a small car in the modern world. pretty fun though, and reliable
