I like it, but not more than the 1st generation. I like that it comes in white again, which I wanted but they didn't offer it in '08. I don't like that the dealer was asking a little more than $18,000 for a manual sport w/out navi. Which makes me happier that I bought mine before Honda decided "fair" market value was an additional $1500.

I voted yes but I want to mention that I don't dislike the first gen and don't think we should even be on each others case about that, the '09 just suits my tastes better.

I still like the first gen and think it is a great vehicle and probably would have bought one if the 2nd gen was going to be a few years down the road but since I plan to get one sometime next year, a new '09 will be just fine.

I generally like it inside and out. Couple things mess it up those lil windows in the front, round top to back and the head unit. Other than that it seems to be a total improvement. But those are enough to keep me from considering a trade...for now.

Are we really this picky about this stuff? Thats like not buying a pair of shoes because of the laces.

In my opinion, the '09 Fit is an evolution of the outgoing, with subtle improvements in engine, suspension and creature comforts (e.g., tilt/telescoping wheel). Styling is an altogether subjective area, whereas one either likes the new one or the outgoing version better. Since I'm getting an '09 this fall I'm probably a little biased towards the new, however, I could see myself having a different opinion if I currently owned an '07 or '08.

Simply put, there are certain things on the new Fit that annoy me, such as the inability to get VSA as a stand-alone option, no steering wheel mounted radio controls (save for nav models), no sunroof option, no rear disc brakes, etc. However, when viewed on the whole, I think the current (as well as the former) generation Fit is perhaps one of the best values on the market in terms of technology, performance, reliability and Honda's legendary resale value.

I'm coming out of an Acura TSX, so I'm going to miss some creature comforts, but am totally looking forward to driving a practical, yet fun car that I hope to enjoy for many years to come.

I have not only seen and driven the car but looked carefully at the specs.
The increase in track is excellent with increased front antisway bar (21 to 22mm) ALONG with 17 mm rear antisway bar in the Sports. A big item because understeer is decreased only on the Sport while understeer is increased on the base, a good reason to avoid it. The Sport reduces the understeer nicely but only track time will tell if its as good as no antisway bars.
I couldn't tell the difference in the seats or room although they may be improved. I just couldn't tell.
The increases in gear ratios can be an improvement but the increased weight and larger diameter tires (185/55x16(24") vs 165/55x15(23.44") may defeat any improvements in gears or power. The extra power was obtained by increasing the rpm at which maximum hp was attained and there is little change in torque so the performance may be less. Also mpg.
The offset of the alloys appear to be 53 mm (we couldn't remove the wheel but could see a 53 marking) so we presume the axle is widened. The wheels do appear to be further out toward the fender arches; those seeking aftermarket wheels will need to be careful. I have a sneaking suspicion that only offsets greater than 45 mm will work without rubbing but the new body may change that. The stock wheel didn't look that tightly enclosed.
Finally, the price: if you get a good deal on an '08 jump all over it. The new Fit just doesn't look $600 better except for the wider track and 16" wheels We'll get a better look later and may change our minds.

I'm getting mine in a couple days. I test drove the base today. The dash is longer than I'm use to but still I think it's a great car. I'm really excited. The car feels solid, doors close nicely. It does not feel like a cheapo car like my 96 hatchback did, although I loved my 96.
If you don't like this car you're probably a jealous kid who wishes he could trade for one. Don't worry too much, once your car's paid off you can get the new cool fit then. Right now it's our turn.

The '09 fixes my only major complaint with my '07 - the seats and driving position. For this reason alone, I was considering upgrading, but cash is just not available right now. I like the small stuff, like rear headrests that I don't have to remove, more storage, more hp, nicer stock wheels (though I have the HFP upgrade), and less boxy look.

The thing that makes it easier to refuse just now is that you have to get the Navi to get the VSA. I have no use for a built-in Navi (I prefer one that's programmable while I'm at my PC, hence I use an HP iPaq with TomTom software), but I would love the added safety of the VSA.

Plus, I just installed my JDM center console, and the '09 has nothing like it.

Maybe in a year or two....

I prefer the look of the '09 inside and out over previous years, and from my limited test drive in an '08 vs. '09 the ride is much nicer too. My wife misses the blue dot over the "i" on the rear hatch of the '09 ... must be a chick thing .
