Hot plastic smell when we push the car into vtec.

Now that we have 1000 miles on the car we are pushing it some into VTEC with AC on and air is recirc we get a hot plastic smell. The smell goes away after you stop the hard acceleration. It smells like it comes from the AC vents.
It does not fill the car up with this smell but you can tell it is there.
Has anyone experience this or know what it is?

Back on topic. I notice this as well after spirited driving. Glad I'm not the only one.

is there any braking involved?

I get this only on spirited driving and I am using the brakes a lot, and driving in second gear up and down hills.....

but could be brakes.

what you guys are smelling has NOTHING to do with vtec, much less on the new fit, as it has ivtec and isn't as simple as being 'in vtec' or not. (if thats even a reasonable thing to say.)

This thread cracks me up! I was trying to be genuinely helpful by recalling that vetch is some sort of plant and, I thought maybe they ran through a field of it. I had some time in rural land 30 years ago which I'd like to forget. I looked at the thread title the 3rd time or so and my dyslexia decoding software kicked in. OK I'm with you now! You're getting on it and you get a weird plastic smell. If it's that early in the cars life it might well be PLASTIC burning somewhere.
