Rear Bumper Protection (Honda Applique and aftermarket)

As many of you are familiar with, the Honda Rear Bumper Applique is a flexible film that sticks on the rear bumper...

On my Passat wagon I had used a bumper protector by Powerflow which I had purchased via Pep Boys online. It is the hard plastic variety, curved to match bumper shapes, and with a couple ridges molded in. I decided to purchase the small size to see if it would work for the '09 Fit, either instead of or in addition to the applique.

The Powerflow #5601 Size A looks like this...

In place on the Fit's rear bumper, it would fit like this...

Because of the taper on the rear bumper, it would have to be placed as far forward as possible, as shown above. The curvature is basically perfect. The issue I see, is that because of that tapered section of bumper, it would only protect part of it. It would certainly protect the top portion if you rested something on top of the flat portion of the bumper, but if you slid something in or out of the back, it could scrape the unprotected portion of the bumper...

As such, I think I'll likely not install it and just take it easy on the OEM applique. The Powerflow might work for some folks, though.

Both College Hills and Bernardi are in the $42-$43 range instead of the list price of $58.
