Latest Mod = Silver Turn Signals Front/Rear - with Pics

Several days ago I posted a question about the light bulbs used in the 2009 Fit, including turn signal bulbs, and a couple replies assumed the bulbs were the same as the previous gen Fit (turn signals = 7440A).

So I ordered four identical silver bulbs (7440A) off eBay and found out that the rear signal bulbs are the same as the GD, but the fronts are not. (Yeah, I shoulda maybe pulled the bulbs FIRST, but where's the fun in that?) Nevertheless, I was able to make the 7440A's fit in the front by reconfiguing the contacts on the bulb and pushing them into the round receptor. It's super snug and the lights function fine.

I've used the "real" Stealth Bulbs on two other cars (Outback XT/Audi S4), but the ones off eBay were half as much, so I took a chance. Visually, they look great (very silver/chromy versus crappy bluish/silvery.) They light up a bit less brightly than Stealth's, but seem perfectly OK.

Anyway, here's the before/after pics:

No - didn't have time (had to run in the house to start watching my beloved Milwaukee Brewers losing game 2 of the playoffs - ugh!)

Taking a pic that accurately represents the brightness/intensity would be a bit tricky. They aren't as bright as the Stealth Bulbs, but they're perfectly usable. Stealth Bulbs have a lifetime warranty, while these don't, but they were a lot cheaper, so it's a tradeoff. I think it's $30 well spent.

Since the front's were not 7440A's, what P/N are they?

You have links on where to get the bulbs. Looks I'll settle for these until I can afford some JDM LED rear lights.

Amber bulbs can be spray painted with a light coat of silver. Bulbs lose some brightness obviously and you have to use the right type of paint and be careful how much you use.

I've noticed they are different from the 7440- they resemble an 1156. Instead of the nipples on the sides of the bulb 180 degrees from each other, they form an angle of approximately 160 degrees.

Anyone know what this bulb type is called? Can't find it anywhere!!
