new Insight hybrid will cost $18,864

I heard it here: http://www.egmcartech.com/2008/10/03...ss-than-19000/

That's about the same price as the Fit w/ navi. Hmm, I am starting to get dizzy about the non-refundable deposit that I put down a month ago...

The Insight is a very good buy at that price. If it came out this year, I would definitely consider buying one.

I hope the Insight is cheap; that should make it easier to buy a Fit due to reduced demand.

"Non refundable" deposits are not legal and won't stand up in court- it's an empty threat by your dealer. If you want your money back, it's easy to do. I did it in '06.

I considered the insight but "the fit is go" I just thought the fit would be more fun to drive then any type of hybrid.

If there are 2k market adjustments on Fits, imagine what they will be on an insight.

There are many dealers here in L.A. with $5000 over sticker.

People like that should have their dealers license revoked. They call it price gouging when they do it to gas and there are laws against it. They are effectively deterring people from being more efficient.

$5k may be within the market demand bump though. There are Shelby Mustangs going for $20-$40k over MSRP.

The Fit is not going to need a $5000 battery pack replacement in 10 years, it looks much better and holds a lot more cargo. I test drove a Civic Hybrid and was shocked at how slow it was, even compared to the Fit. If the Insight is that slow too I can't see any benefit over the Fit. A few measly MPG's, big deal.

Fit > Insight big time, and its cheaper. The CR-Z might be a different story.

Looks like a Civic and a Prius had sex and gave birth to the Insight. Kinda see some lines from the GE8 too in the front quarters.

I will guarantee you they will have a hard time pricing this less than $20,000.

If they have any models less than $19K, they will be almost impossible to find because they will make like 10 of them.

Totaly does.
Looks ALOT better then the Prius to me though. That price is a bargain for a HONDA Hybrid, you know you are getting quality. Sounds like these things are going to be HOT sellers when they hit the market.

But the Insight may have a base and a Sport version too! In which case, I wouldn't be surprised if a loaded Insight comes in around $22-23k.

Looks a LOT better than the original Insight, and more practical too! One of my bandmates owns an original Insight, and I could never picture myself driving one of those. I hope they keep those LED headlight clusters.

On the flipside, the styling is a bit too much like the Prius for my taste. However, it's a lot more reasonably priced, and looks better to my eyes.

Maybe by the time I buy a new car again, they'll have worked out al the bugs in plug-in hybrids!
