useless windshield wiper

i noticed that the passenger windshield wiper is very small and looks almost useless. i got to thinking that you can get rid of that wiper arm and get a larger wiper for the main wiper and only have one big windshield wiper. i think that would make it look slick. now i just gotta find out if they make a wiper big enough. what do you guys think eh??

If you made the main wiper longer, it would sweep over past the top of the windshield at full extension, not very slick.

not really, cuz if you look the windshield is very large and and the main wiper right now can barely even reach the top portion of the windshield

crusitude is right. you cant do without the gimp blade unless you dont want to wipe that part of the windshield.

and there prolly wouldn't be enough pressure on the far side along with more strain on the wiper motor :/

Maybe you should have bought a Benz instead of a Fit. Has Honda ever made a vehicle with a single wiper?

Replacement blades are pretty much universal so just go get a longer one and try it. Then go back to OEM setup

On the other end of the spectrum, I had an MG Midget with 3 wipers!

The Toyota FJ cruiser also has three windshield wipers.

Actually, the top of the blade is only one to two inches from the top of the windshield at full extension. You might get away with a blade one inch longer, but that's not enough to cover the part of the windshield covered by the short right blade. Just to be sure, I grabbed a picture of my wipers in the fully extended position.

Going one size up will fit. The wipers on my Fit were shot, I replaced them with RainX Latitudes. I think I used a 19" blade, they're available at Wal-Mart or just about anywhere...

19 would be rather short. According to this (http://www.tirerack.com/wipers/resul...oModClar=Sport) You would have used a 29 inch blade, since the standard is 28.

How does the longer blade fit in relation to the right hand wiper arm and blade? From what I can tell, a 29 inch left blade would touch the right arm and blade when the wipers are parked.

Fully extended you might even get away with a 30 inch blade, maybe even 31 or 32. When I posted the picture last night, I noted that there is approximately 3.5 inches between the top of the blade and the top of the windshield, so you could conceivably add six inches to the length of the stock blade (assuming it mounts to the arm in the center of the blade assembly). The problem would be fitting that blade against the right side blade.

Thank you, you're definitely correct.

I will go get a pic of how the longer arm looks later today.

For further reference, I checked my photo album, and found this picture of my wipers parked.

As it turns out (the picture I was looking at yesterday was a different picture, not as close up as this one), a 30 inch blade will clear the passenger side arm, and because it seems there are about two inches between the parked blades, should clear with an inch to spare. Remember, add two inches to the length of the blade, and it will be one inch closer to the passenger side blade, assuming it mounts in the middle.

You might get away with a 31 inch blade, but I don't think a 32 would fit.
