Hitch receiver at etrailer

I emailed Hidden Hitch and low and behold they emailed back that they now have Hitch #60218 for the 2009 Honda Fit. I called etrailer and ordered one - should be here in about a week.

I also ordered the electric kit #118420 that is supposed to be plug and play for the 2007 to 2009 Honda Fit.

Free shipping as it all is over $150 and that is their special right now.

Also got my Monroe air shocks today MA793 ($50 at Amazon and free shipping). They measure out to be correct. I'll try to get these on Thursday night - or this weekend.

Dave-
Just a heads-up while you are waiting. Read the last post today by eyedryve on the air shock DIY thread. His tire problem on his 1st. Gen Fit might give you something to think about with your '09.

I ordered the receiver hitch and wiring kit, and received this note in the confirmation; "Your order is in transit to our distribution facility and should ship in the next 7 days".

I suppose that means they'll be ordering it from the supplier in the morning. I have dealt with them before, including a front-mount receiver for my F-250.

I don't know whether I'll install the wiring right away, but I think it was only about $10 more than the shipping for just the hitch would have been. The harness could make the dealer think I had been towing a trailer, possibly resulting in warranty exclusions.

Thanks for the heads up! I just ordered mine. I've been waiting for this to come out since I got the Fit.

You could get one of these and put it in the receiver for dealer visits and if asked say you thought the light was cool and an added safety feature when you don't have your bike/yak rack on.

Has anyone received their hitch package yet? I'm curious if there is any drilling or other mods to the car required. There is a link for instructions on the etrailer site but it doesn't work.

I'm about to place an order too, just noticed the instructions are not working either. Is there a warranty issue for installing this and using it for a bike rack? That's all I want it for.

The manual says towing a trailer may compromise warranty coverage, not installing a hitch.

I wish I had the Fit with a hitch on before I sold my 31' Airstream, just for a picture!

I contacted etrailer.com about the missing instructions. They are contacting the manufacturer and plan to correct the situation.

I just got an email from etrailer.com saying my hitch is on national backorder and they expect to be able to ship in 1 to 2 weeks.

+1.

While were waiting, which bike rack are you guys looking at and any suggestions for where to buy them.

I'm looking at the Thule T2 2 Bike Rack. Seems like every online place has it for 10% off.

The installation instruacitons are up at etreailer.com now. Can look at the pdf and see what the hitch looks like and the procedure. Looks like we will have to file an access hole a little to slip in the carrige bolts for mounting.

here's the rack that I have...

Saris Cycling Group

It's super clean looking, holds the bikes tighter than any other rack, and the only thing on your bike that the rack touches is the wheels. Hope this helps!

Anyone know when 2009 model thule racks come out? I just cancelled my order for the trailer hitch with the national back order since by the time it gets here it's going to be too cold for my preference to bike. Saris rack looks nice, but I'm not a big fan of the all plastic design. I want a rack that's going to be on all the time.
