Did the USB adapter install in the base Fit
Sunday my wife told me that she's amazed at how for the majority of her commute, all she's hearing is commercials, even when switching from one station to another. I agreed, as that had been my experience prior to commuting with anything plugged in to the USB port on the Fit Sport. At first I'd used my iPod, but then found out the USB flash drive worked out even better.
So Sunday night I ordered the USB adapter and attachment kit from BernardiParts.com and was pleased to see that UPS had dropped it off today, just two days later. When my wife got home I went out in the driveway and installed it. Fairly straightforward. The instructions refer to using a plastic tool to remove the radio panel, but I put masking tape around the surfaces as shown in the instructions and used some bicycle tire "spoons" instead. Worked out OK. I had a few so it let me get leverage in a few spots.
Took about 45 minutes or so. Didn't bother unplugging the radio or negative battery cable. So I didn't have to worry about the anti-theft code or anything.
Plugged in the USB flash drive, and it worked just like in my Sport. Sweetness.
So once back in the house, my wife sees me with my laptop and two flash drives plugged in and asks me what the heck I'm doing.
"giving you music to listen to for your commute"
"How do you know what I like? You're just putting what you want on there?" she asks.
"I will give you whatever I want, and you will LIKE it" I say with a grin.
She grimaces. I ask her "why, you don't like Daughtry, Maroon 5, U2, Gavin Degraw, Green Day??"
"I do", she says.
"Right hun, I would hope that after 24 years of being with you, I'd know what you'll listen to".
"How do I get my own music on there?" she asks.
I begin to explain, at which point she says "I'll give you a list" and walks away.
And so it goes. I will try to talk her into going out into the driveway with me so I can show her a bit about how it works. Though I fully expect phone calls tomorrow while I'm at work. "thank you for calling Fit support, this is Eric, how may I assist you?"

Excellent post! It should ease the apprehension of some folks contemplating the install.
That USB port is one great feature. I missed the 8-track heyday, but did plenty of cassette deck installs. What progress!
One question;
That was the tire spoons, right?

I have a 2009 base Fit and would like to add the USB interface, but I am a bit confused about what I need to order. There are two items listed on bernardiparts.com:
2009-2011 Honda Fit Base Audio and Video Accessories - Bernardi Honda Parts and Accessories
do I need both of these? they look like they are the same thing.
TKZ12NO1, which one did you order and install?
Thanks.
