Wondering about more power??
Hi Fit World, I am now in about two weeks
and I must say If I had to publicly rate
my 09 (AT) Fit I would give it a 9.0 rating
so many things good, just a small bad..
I have close to 1100 miles mostly highway
some in very bad head wind some hill climbing.
also loaded with full cargo 400+ LBS.
The main two complaints are not enough Power
and car seems to hunt while going down the highway.
other than that, I really cant see any other car
in this price range that can even get close.
I am thinking a small turbo kit or some int mods (chip?)
and header. not looking to go set records Just would
like to have more hp for passing or going up hills
with cargo. I wanted to see if any of you guys
had any thoughts.

i have no idea about 09 fits, but i have heard of 09 fit sport. and im not sure if 09 fit AT means it has sport. so, im going to step in for the hell of it
i drive a 08 sport and when i need power, i hit the sports mode. the problem with AT is that the car will try to keep the RPMs low, it prolly woudnt get passed 4000 RPM even if you floor it. basicly, it plays it safe. BUT! assuming its the same concept, sports mode allows you to control the RPM, easier than MT actually (dont think sports mode is better than MT
). i always need more power when im going up a hill, so i hit the sports mode and go one gear down (usually 2nd, sometimes 3rd) and floor it and it works like a charm. just dont red line it, shift up if you have to.

To the best of my knowledge there are no forced induction kits or much of any other performance parts out there for the GE8. But one thing with an underpowered car like the Fit, the only way to really get it going is grabbing the right gear and using your forward momentum. If you have a sport you have an advantage when it comes to your acceleration, if you have a base your kind of left out.
In the AT Fit Sports, they have steering wheel mounted paddles. Those paddles allow you to upshift (the right) and downshift (the left) in either "D" or "S" mode which would help give you a better running start up hills and passing. (At least in the GD3s.) In "D" mode, the trans is in full auto mode till you pull a paddle after which it'll up or downshift into the next gear. After a moment of normal driving the trans will revert back into full automatic.
In "S" mode the shift points are changed to allow rev higher in the RPMs, usually entering VTEC before each shift. Which is good for people who are not familiar with the paddles and drive on hilly roads. When a paddle is clicked the transmission goes into "manual" mode; which will have a "m" followed by the gear number. This mode offers the most control over the trans by acting almost as an Sequential Manual Gearbox would by having you manually upshift or hit the redline; the trans automatically downshifts.
So in the event of going up a hill were the Fit will have to downshift regardless you should downshift (ahead of the hill) into a lower gear that is in VTEC range (3400 RPMS+ on GD3) and gain your momentum before you hit it. If thats not enough, drop another gear and try to stay near or above the engine's peak torque. (105 @ 4800 RPMs in GD3s)

Yup, afaik no kits are out for FI in ge8's...if I remember right companies were wary(?) shyed away cause of teh engine bay size/available room being less than the gd3's. Then again I read that it's about the same so iono, wait a year or so...have to remember gd3's have been around since 01 :P
The wandering at higher speeds is somethin you sorta have to live with...in turn you gain quick steering, nothing's perfect

Well this might be a threadjack of sorts but some very good reviews for the Blitz Throttle Controller. The '09 version is still being tweaked. It will give you a quicker start but looks like you need more sustained power.
Thanks Guys for the tips, By no means am I unhappy,
Just looking for some extra pep. The wandering just
might be so so stock tires, All in All I really love my
little Fit. I will re post as soon as I see a solution
that would be reasonable, I really think we are going to
see a lot of neat things for Fits.
