probably because gas is a little more affordable and dealerships across the nation are running crazy deals on SUVs and Trucks.

on autoblog, there was an article on a Dealer Special for the Yukon Denali (or some SUV within the same category), it was buy one get one free

**EDIT**
tried looking up the link but autoblog's search engine is busted

I could see that, because the 09 pilot was released early during the summer just as gas was going up. My dealers lot was packed with them, said they were barely selling at all.
So Honda put on incentives er lower financing, then gas goes down, sales spike up but I think it is only temporarily for the pilot

On a related note 700 Chrysler dealers are closing mostly belly up. My wife;s cousin is one of em. Had a Dodge dealership for 25 years up until yesterday. Made good money except for the last year or so.

Things are going to get pretty rough my friends!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it possible that Fits could get more expensive as soon as next model year due to its popularity and to make up for lost profits?

I read that Honda was trying to hold the line here over the summer as steel/aluminum shot way up, was costing them more than $500 or more to build each car. But prolly because steel and aluminum and building cars in general is VERY energy intensive. So oil is a 1/3 of the around $150 a barrel price so that may not be an issue any more.

What could be an issue is the dollar dropping in value basically because the government is printing trillions of dollars to cover shortfalls and all the bail outs.

Steel has gone up a lot (nearly doubled $/tonne in some respects), but most other metal have been falling for the past year. This time last year, copper and aluminum were about US$3.35/lb and US$1.15/lb, respectively. Now, they're at $1.55/lb and $0.80/lb.

I boo this economy. I boo it hard.

I had searched for the YTD sales earlier, but could not find them, so I posted only the November sales instead. Thanks for the link.
