Dyno Testing for fun!!

Here's the concept: I want to Dyno test my car stock to do a baseline. Then I'm going to switch the oil to 100% synthetic and Dyno it again to see if there is any gain in HP and torque. If you guys have any suggestions, feel free to pitch in! Like doing a Dyno run with different octane level gas or air filters. I know someone with a Mustang Dyno and he's interested in giving me a few runs for dirt cheap so I might aswell go for it.

I've been thinking about this for a while but never actually got a chance to do it because my Talon is AWD and his Dyno doesn't support more than 2 wheels! I work for Mitsubishi dealership and we always get the Castrol rep saying how much power their TWS oil can make in our EvoX but I'd like to see it on a smaller scale like the 1.5L i-vtec. I'll post results in as soon as I get them.

Red face

I say.. on a Mustang Dyno.. the 09 Fit will put between 85~90 to the wheels... now on a Dyno Jet I would say right at 100 to the wheels.... ( don`t ask me how I know this )..

85... that's pitiful... hahaha

I dont think our 1.5's will have enough torque to move the rollers.

Please do. I'd be surprised to see any difference whatever in HP from synthetic oil in the Fit. I do use Mobil 1 for longevity though.

Somebody whose done some dyno runs should chime in, but my impression is that there's enough variability in dyno results from pull to pull that it's going to be hard to determine whether a small change was due to the oil or just one of the better runs.

If the car is tested within the same conditions it should be pretty accurate. I can get the base run done and change the oil right after so I can get it back on the Dyno in less than an hour...Should be accurate enough.

Are you coming down for this one ET? See if I can beat your record. What's your prediction? You were pretty accurate on the last one

we've done numerous dyno comparisons between paraffin-based oils and synthetics. Expect about 3% gain.

Mustang dyno at a bit more than 3000 feet of altitude.

2008 Fit LX 100% stock with about 6000 kms on it.

I do have a dyno sheet at home might need to scan it :P

Seb when are you going down might be in for this, let me know and I'll bring the tools needed to change the oil and filter in a flash!

Still waiting to hear from Toma. I'll let you know for sure. I'd be happy with a 3% gain on top of the 20% I'm getting from my T1R license plate frame
