Oh yes - I re-greased every point with white lithium grease, just as it was when it was stock.

It's so stiff that when in neutral, if you pull the lever all the way to the right or left, it will stay to the right or left, it won't spring back to center.

Probably just has to wear in, just wondering if others have experienced this.

when i installed the shifter it also was very stiff and it would not return to the center when i moved the shifter to the left, but after 2 weeks its smooth as butter, so no worries man, it'll return to normal

When I threw a SS into my VW it was way too stiff, but my mechanic friend told me it took time for the grease to work it's way in. Sure enough a few weeks past and the shifter started to loosen up. Cross your fingers ;)

Any tips on how you eventually got that free from there? I took care of the ball seat thingy surprisingly easily, but this part is pretty annoying. No angle I try seems to give it enough clearance to come free.

Heh, never mind - got it free about 10 minutes after I posted. Couldn't tell you what I did differently, but it's all set and back in the car now with the new lever . . .
