Self Maintenance Check list

I was planning on changing my oil this week and I was wondering if there are any maintenance checklists for certain miles? I know some cars come with a maintenance book that tells you what should be done at each service but since honda uses the maintenance minder thing is there anyway to find out? I have about 9k miles and I would like to know what else I should be looking at besides changing the oil and filter and the basic fluids check. I was thinking about rotating the tires but is it to early?

thats on you to do that just look at the tires uneven wear on the tire? but remember with the new FIT change the oil at the 15%-0% range because at 0% your have to get the dummy light turned off (thats when im doing mine) but other than that at 9000 miles at least toque down the lug's the quick change oil people (jiffy lube) well tell you if it does or not just dont fall for the old your radiator cap dont hold 15lbs of pressure, its not a race car 10-12psi is the norm...

I'd do an oil change every 5k regardless what that maintainence minder said.

For tire rotations, optimal is 5k but every 10k is the minimum. There's plenty of places now days that give a free rotation, regardless if you bought the car from them or not.

what if you use a mityvac?

Honda has to plug in something and tell the computer the oil was changed

I don't know what a mityvac is but I think that the owners manual tells you how to reset the oil life. I think you have to push in the knob for a few seconds and then push it in again. I am just going by memory though. Someone else on here knows for sure I bet. I also thought mine came with a little mantenence book that said what should be done at certain mileage points. Unfortately I am away from my car right now to check though.

Here ya go:

Resetting the Engine Oil Life
Display
Your dealer will reset the display
after completing the required
maintenance service. You will see
‘‘ OIL LIFE 100% ’’ on the information
display the next time you turn the
ignition switch to the ON (II)
position.
If maintenance service is done by
someone other than your dealer,
reset the maintenance minder as
follows:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON
(II) position.
2. Press the select/reset knob
repeatedly until the engine oil life
is displayed.

4. Press the select/reset knob for
another 5 seconds. The
maintenance item code(s) will
disappear, and the engine oil life
will reset to ‘‘ 100. ’’

besides wat the dealer checks, i usually check the undercarriage for any chips
(especially around lift points) and check suspension for any leaks/corrosion.

Really just change the oil and rotate tires. Every time i get the oil changed i get the tires rotated too. But i dont think the fit needs any real maintance done untill 30k or 35k mark if i remember right but call the dealer ship they could tell u for sure. I use to do it myself now i just pay honda to do it. But i think i will start doing my own tire rotating and save some money. They charge me $60 to get the oil changed and tires rotated which is a little high but i only get it done every 5,000 miles or so. But i might start doing both my self like i said to save some money. Its just i have a good warranty on the fit and i would hate to not get it because they say i messed up something when changeing my own oil.

I think that's what some dealerships tell you so that you only come to them for oil changes.

Cool, thanks for all the info. Looks like I don't have to worry about anything major until around 30k then.

One more question. Is it ok to use the OEM honda oil filter with a synthetic oil?

Read your maintenance manual. What needs to be done or checked is listed at every mileage station.

Yes, your owners manual clearly states how you do it.
