I wish the Fit had a fuel door lock/release

Having a fuel door lock release in the cabin area is one of the features that I love about Japanese auto makers' cars. American cars rarely if ever have this.

But it's super disappointing that the Fit doesn't have one. Anybody know why? I sure wish the Fit had one.

I agree, I find it harder to open also. It seems very sensitive, you have to tap it in the right spot to get that lil twigg up.

I say that you make a project where you install a wireless release on the fuel door.

Why didn't Honda put a release on the Fit? They've got one on all their other vehicles.

There was a member that posted that his 09 Jazz doesn't open when the car is locked. He said that there was some sort of solenoid. I'd love to add that to my Fit. That is something where the service manual would be helpful.

You know what? If you look at the door latch tab and the corresponding area in the gas cap area, there's a plugged hole in there where a solenoid could be used. Once the weather's warm enough I'm going to investigate how to get behind the black plastic gas cap cubby.

Hmm, that sounds like an awesome feature. Too bad the Fit doesn't have it.

I saw something on TV about a gas cap that is permanently fixed to the car--that is, no screwing or unscrewing. Just push the pump nozzle onto it and it sorta moves to accept it so you can fill up. I wish theses were available.

if the fit had a fuel door lock, itd just mean that someone is gonna take a screwdriver to open it instead of opening it with their finger

I agree. Might as well wish for a dimming mirror, heated leather seats, bluetooth touchscreen radio, suede wrapped steering wheel, and a back up camera while you're at it. You get what you pay for. And with the Fit, you're already getting A LOT!

My Fit has all of those features, as well as built in massage. I got it all during REM sleep. Unfortunately someone removed it all when I went out to my car this morning.

Maybe it'll be back tonight.

I had most of that crap on our 2003 Acura TL. The Fit is a better car for what it is than the Acura (at least the old one--who can afford the new ones?).

Well Im just wondering how many people buy or dont buy cars because of the fuel door? or lack of a map light(like in the FJ)...honestly I knew what I was getting into when I bought a fit, some people act as though all of a sudden there was no locking gas cap, or crap it gets good gas milage....
