At $6 a quart that's not too bad. How much is shipping?

A friend of mine keeps trying to get me to use AMSOIL.

So $90 / 12 = $7.5 per quart. Not bad, but not great either. I think Pep Boys sells it for $8 per quart, so you're saving a total of about $10 after tax.

Just get some Pennzoil Platinum? It's cheap, good, and synthetic.

i didn't even kno pepboys sold royal. Thx for that, I'mma check them out today. I'm already having a headache as to which oil I should use.. I still have 5000 miles more to go cause I just got my fit, but rite now its down to royal, amsoil, pennzoil, mobil 1, all syns. But I'm leaning more towards royal, but it is pricey. But I think eneos is even more pricier

Royal and Amsoil are good oils, but super expensive. And if you're going to be doing your oil changes every 5-6K like most people here including myself, then it'll be wasteful. I'd vote go with the cheapest synthetic. You won't really notice a difference in the way the car runs, especially if you're stock. Only difference I found was that my car might have run a little smoother, but it might be in my head. GL!

Pretty much sums up my thoughts.
Mobil 1 in everything for 20 years, and I beat the snot out of my motorcycle and snowmobile. 5qt jugs at Walmart for $20 something, & the empty 5q jugs are perfect for recycling FTW!

It's debatable whether you really need to run synthetic at all (although I will), but the difference between the good synthetics is so small there's really no need to seek out specialty oils. The few used oil analyses I've found on Fit engines shows very good results on readily available M1 and Pennzoil Platinum. These engines seem to be pretty easy on oil. Even if someone could tell you which synthetic is better in the Fit (as opposed to their opinion/brand preference), the actual wear/deposit control difference isn't likely to show up before a couple hundred thousand miles.

I think dealerships uses mobil 1 synthetic I'm betting right? And also I had a quick question, in the manual it says to have ur first oil changed when the maintaince minder tells you to, but what if you go over 6000miles and it still says like 20% left, idk which to trust go wit every 6000miles change or listen to the maintaince minder?

The dealer almost assuredly uses standard dino oil, not synthetic. If the owner's manual/warranty doesn't specify that synthetic is a requirement, the dealer isn't going to spend more money to go above and beyond the recommendation.

I know if I don't specify, but I'm going to specify to the dealer to use synthetic after probably my second oil change, cause 2 are free. But I'm wondering if I specify, I think they use mobil 1 synthetic

I'm not sure about that. Honda has some oils labelled as Honda. At one point they were sourced by Mobil. I don't know if there's a Honda Synthetic 5W20 and if so, who it's sourced by. I'm not even sure that the dealers all use the same oil. As long as it meets the viscosity and API requirements for a given application, different dealers may buy bulk oil from different oil producers.

If I were you, I'd take whatever oil you want used for the oil change and tell them to use it. It's not uncommon for dealership and oil change places to gouge you on the price of the oil if you want to upgrade from their usual fill.

dozens of hours of reading about motor oil

a broad consensus is best not to go to syn oils til 5K + miles.

you get 2 changes free right?

you could go with whatever they have, or ask about the up charge to go to a full syn oil. Either way you are perfectly fine.
I didnt mean to knock Purple, just that I am on the road a lot and you can get M1 anywhere, and M1 always tests out very high in every test.
Plus I do all my own changes, I can do it faster than driving over to the dealer to get my free one

I wish I could do my own oil changes but well first the place where I live the apartment owner doesn't allow working on your cars, washing you cars, etc.. It really sucks. But yea Imma go to syn oils after my 2 free oil changes, by then I think I would've hit 10,000 miles if I do 5,000 miles oil changes. How often do you change ur oil Tork?

Where U at in IL? Im at IL/WI border at Lake Michigan
I run the maintainence minder down to 15-25% ( 5000-6500?????)
Nothing wrong with going syn at 5-15K miles
Relax, dont sweat the small stuff, enjoy your excellent car
