Looks pretty cool. How hard was it to remove the rear emblem?

Hey Nick,
First of all thanks for posting lots of cool pics and for being an all around good guy.

1. Yeah, JDM LED tails would be very spendy. A cheap alternative is to trade your USDM's for base JDM's with somebody in Asia. Those guys appreciate the swap as well as they get a 'distinctive look' for their car which happens to be similar to the JDM led tails. I swapped mine with a really good guy in Thailand. If interested in doing this, post up on some of the Asian forums. Cost me only freight to do the swap.

2. Talked to a guy in Cali who has been in the wheel business for over 20 years. He might be able to find you one or so Roja wheels, I'll dig up his ph# and PM it if you would want to give it a shot.

3. Now that your springs have settled, could you post measurements from the ground to the top of the front and rear wheel openings? No need to post pics

Here is my SSM after the T light swap

Mike hey what up bro.

1. not to sure about this. IMHO i don't think a all red
tail light looks good on a ssm fit.
now clear would be sick. especially smoked.

2. def take you up on this. PM so we can work this out.
thanks bro

3. will do. I'll take measurements for you and post them
on the DIY thread and let you know.

Not bad.. a type-r replacement grille would look bomb on the FIT though. Do they make one?

It's basically flat black paint. I sanded down the chrome a little and then gave it a couple of coats of paint. very simple.

I would also love to get ride of the chrome headlights but there is no way I could do that oven stuff.
Maybe the base Fit lights. Or get someone to do the oven thing for me. And while there at it they can take out that god awful orange reflector out of there.
I agree completely. I hate the chrome as well.
Here are my blacked out emblems.

Ricey really? I don't see that. I can see you thinking the fake type r badge being ricey but blacked out cars are more euro than ricey...

To each his own. I like it...makes the fit stand out in a subtle way.

What I did was take a putty knife wrap it with a paper towel (so you don't scuff up the black on the hatch) slide the putty knife behind the emblem until its touching the stud. Then take a rubber mallet and tap on the stud and it breaks right off (just plastic). Then just pull the emblem right off. This way you don't damage the emblem and don't damage the door.

Painting it flat black makes it blend in with the grill. It's a great alternative to a debadged grill (like the one from JDP). I LOVE IT! Thanks for sharing, Niko!

I'd consider doing my front H the same way, but with a white background. I wish I had a garage.

That's a nice looking FIT right there! Are your rear emblems still black on white? Did you remove your bumper to do this paint job? I really want to do this but I have no garage and the operation will probably take more than a day.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes the rear is still black but now matte black to match the front emblem. The background is actually ssm (silver) to match the car color. Nope all you have to do is clip the stems on the back of the emblem and the emblem pops right off. I glued and emblem taped the emblem back on. You don't need a garage to do this...just a sunny day (To dry the paint on the emblems quicker )
