Almost nothing to complain about, so I'll complain about the key
 

Our new Fit Sport has so little to complain about. But, there is always something. I will single out the combination remote control/key device. My S2000 has the key and remote as two separate entities. This allows for a fairly small key, and also allows Honda to give the owner a separate 'valet key,' which lacks the remote and is cut so as to only open the doors and ignition, and not the glovebox and trunk.
Other manufacturers have more novel approaches, many using a fob-like device, which fits into a slot, plus a push button starter. The Fit approach results in a very long, awkward key, which is a potential pocket-ripper. My wife does not mind, since she puts the key in her pocketbook. However, I would think that many male drivers would share my dislike of this overly long key.

Just the other day, my wife looked at me and said: "Is that a Fit key in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?" Oh, allright, I made that up,and I must give proper credit to Mae West.:)

What's the point in stopping access to the trunk when it's a wagon? You can access it from inside the car.

I don't think the Fit even has a lock on the glove box.

I agree, the key is pretty large. But I like having one thing to carry around in my pocket, instead of two things (key + remote) that invariably get stuck in some weird, uncomfortable position (key tucked through the ring holding them together).

Without thinking, I asked about the valet key when I bought my Fit -- there's nowhere to lock anything up on the inside, so no point in a valet key!

Just wanted to add... I don't let my car be "valeted" anyway.

My bad for even mentioning the concept of a valet key. It is many years since last we owned a station wagon or hatchback, and I forgot the ease of access to contents from inside the vehicle.

They should give us those flick out folding keys like some other Hondas have.

I believe it is possible to have a folding blank (available on eBay) cut to suit, and then transfer your immobiliser and remote locking module from your old key to the new folding one.

You need the immobiliser part or your engine won't start even if the key fits.

I also wish it was two seperate pieces so that I could add an aftermarket alarm and not have to carry the Big key too.

s2000 start button mod?

I hate that monster key. It flies in the face of all of the other careful engineering and ergonomics that went into the Fit. I don't know what to do with the thing. Doesn't fit on my key ring with my other fob and reasonably sized keys. What could they be thinking?

I had to wrestle with this issue as I just added a Viper 1002 alarm to my 09 Sport. I ended up having my dealer order me a valet key, then having everything reprogrammed to add the new key ($76 for everything).

Way better then having two sets of buttons, and always hitting the wrong ones!

i love the idea of key and remote in one. these days we want one device that does multiple things - such as a cell phone that functions as camera and mp3 player and internet browser, and even bank card. one day our car key will act as swiss army knives, screw drivers, flash light, digital tape measurer and voice recorder, plus tire pressure indicator... oh, all in a package the size of a house key.

This sounds like the answer for me. What does the valet key look like? Is it just a regular key with no alarm buttons at all? Could you post a pic of it?

fukka key and lock remote being seperate. that shit is for shitboxes that get best buy blah blah alarms and the likes. my buddy has an rsx type s which has the key and alarm fob seperate. that shit is weak

I'd like the fold out or switchblade type key arrangement or the separate key and button arrangement. It is one of the things I liked better about my WRX.

For the Honda S2000, the valet key looks just like the regular key (except head is gray plastic rather than black), but it does not come with the remote. It still has the chip which defeats the immobilizer. My personal favorite would be the Volkswagen-type 'switchblade' key/remote combination. Now that I am finished venting about the key, I could go on to complain about the absence of a leather upholstery choice - but I won't.

so none of the acura fobs work on the 09 fits?

i know some people were able to use the TL fob on their GD3s.

yeah. and you can get the cover for the mdx to delete the trunk button if you want a cleaner look.
